Hi, Ive just bought a mio p350 and had nothing but problems with it, first when i recieved it the pda it keep switching itself off for no reason so i sent it back to the shop. They said it was a faulty unit and they sent me a replacement now ive just installed tomtom 5 on the new unit and it keeps freezing and locking up for no reason.
Now i need a reliable setup for work and iam now thinking of sending it back to get a refund but what do i get as a replacement?
My Dads got a garmin 300 which he says works really well and he’s well impressed with, he’s recently updated the software online and now it gives him an option in settings to select ‘truck’.
I havent had a chance to try it myself yet and iam wondering if anyone else has a garmin and has tried this truck setting and can recommend it. The garmin iam looking at is then nuvi 310 with bluetooth for around 310 quid.
Does anyone know if i’ll have any problems with installing things like bridge heights on to the garmin as most of the poi’s availible seem to be geared towards the tomtom?
Cheers
Have you installed the updates for tomtom5? Try downloading them from the website and see if it cures the freezing. Check the FAQ. There may be something there to help.
try downloading the latest version for pcoket pc from the tomtom website which is 5.21 install the program via active stink oppps sorry activesync then try running it the mio will turn off unless you chamge the power preferences be aware that you will only get a couple of hours out of the battery unless your using a car charger
When the mio was turning itself off it was already fully charged and when i sent it back to the supplier they confirmed that it was a faulty unit when they checked it. I dont know what the problem is with the tomtom softwear now but i dont have the time to mess about with it so have sent it back already today, the supplier said that i can select a different unit from their website as a replacement.
Now iam thinking about a garmin either a nuvi 310 or maybe a street pilot, has anybody used the ‘truck’ setting on this sat nav and can verify that it works, ie takes you on the A & B roads and avoids the smaller roads??
nothings perfect usually truck setting only adjusts the eta time and makes use of larger roads just dont set it to shortest and set avoid unpaved roads
also you will still have to think with it its designed for a car not a truck
