I was speaking with an old friend over the weekend and Gaffer’s Transport in Castleford came up in the conversation.
Does anyone know what happened to them, as you occasionally see the yellow trailers about.
Not sure of the in’s and out’s, but much of the work was taken up by Archbold’s and most of the driver’s went there too, or Linpac at Featherstone.
they went bust owing money - if memory serves it was something to do with the holdings group that they were part of and not directly linked to the transport operation.
The company I worked at as a forklift driver until April owned a trailer still in full Gaffers colours, though they have absoluetly no connection so maybe its just a case of people buying trailers and not bothering to change the curtains.
I saw a Gaffers trailer last week and realised I hadn’t seen them about lately. Now I know why. Obviously saving up for a new set of curtains 
Still see City trailers about and they must have gone bump 3 years ago?
