South: Hmmm…Poole?

N: Edinburgh
E: Brussels
S: Penzance
W: Tralee

Bit of a poor year really. Hoping for better next year.

(In a truck I’m driving, In any vehicle ‘not public transport’)
Within the UK
N: Stoke on Trent, Hexham Racecourse
E: Ramsgate, Caister, Great Yarmouth
S: Eastbourne, Lizard Point
W: Avonmouth, Land’s End

Never been to Ireland or Scotland.

Cities outside of the UK driven (riding on public transport - doesn’t count)
N: Amsterdam, Netherlands
E: Hurghada, Egypt
S: Luxor, Egypt
W: Alicante, Spain

I nearly got killed coming off by bike riding around Corfu as well, before I’d got my car licence… I decided to not bother getting my full rider’s licence after that.
The Qena-Safaga road (Egypt) was probably the biggest adventure, as you can’t just drive on a road “out of town” in Egypt - you have to drive in a police-escorted convoy.

Officially the reason why is supposed to be “Bandits”, but the locals told me that it was to stop tourists helping themselves to “souvenirs” just lying about on the ground throught Egypt, especially in the more remote places where “no one is watching”…

Attempting to smuggle antiquities - attracts a mandatory life sentence in Egypt. Best to behave oneself then!

I understand the Ecuador/Peru/Chile authorities have had a bit of bother with tourists “grave robbing” small gold items like the one pictured below - that can be found in “bone piles” about the Atacama desert as well. A crack-down on “theft of antiquities” is now in force down there as well, although I’ve yet to travel to the Americas. (I’m interested in Ancient Archaeology)
