I rang a new agency I saw advertising said I only want 1 day a week 2 at the most, to be told you have to do 3 days a week at least ! To old to worry now, will just jog along.
obviously dont need drivers
hitch:
obviously dont need drivers
could e they only do paye and it don’t pay them to only book people for less than 3 shifts
It pays them more to have someone on PAYE doing one day a week than it does someone doing 5. Someone doing a day a week is likely to earn under the threshold for employers NI so the agency won’t have to pay employer NI on the wages the driver earns. 5 people doing a days work each at a company to cover a week puts more money in the pocket of an employer than one person doing all 5 days.
Could it be the umbrella people have said it’s not worth you doing less than 3 days? Experience with an agency previously (not driving) that I thought was an honest man explained that if they got me a particular post that was full-time, it would be worth being paid through an umbrella, but they took a set fee, regardless of how many days you worked. This goes back about eight years. At the time it saved me lot of paperwork claim in the mileage, various meals etc. Things have changed, prolly cos HMRC needed to raise more money for MPs pay-rises or some such frippery…
I just thought they would like some one who might only want 1 day , not moaning at them when work is slack. But I was wrong, never mind.
