Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knows of any funding that is available in scotland to finance my training, I was told that the job centre will fund it if you have been on job seekers for more than 6 months but I am on Incapacity benefit and it seems there isnt anything available to me because of this, any help would be appreciated.

If you click the link in my signature or this (Forum sponser logo) it will lead you to an index where you can access a lot more info which may be of use to you
To book any LGV training I suggest the trainee-to-be, visits the training school, meets the head person(s) and has a quick look at the truck BEFORE parting with any money.
Using the site Search facility and putting the words TRAINING AND WHERE you wish to train may turn up some recommendations.

sorry to be so ignorant but what is incapacity benefit paid for? is it like disabled living allowance?
Incapacity benefit is like SSP ( if you have been on SSP for more than 28 weeks you go onto incapacity benefit ) DLA ( disability living allowance ) is something different as you can work and get DLA but not incapacity benefit

Incapacity benefit is paid to the unemployed if they have trouble finding work due to an incapacity such as a bad back that is not bad enough to be listed as disabled.
so if you have been on the sick for 28 weeks or more then you can get your cat c licence for nowt?
thats another good screw to know aint it?
youre off work sick and get your course for hgvs paid for then decide you are well enough to go back to work but this time on the hgv’s, lugging heavy things about, maybe getting stressed out in the traffic and everything else that comes with teh job.
i wish i had known that i would have just gone on the sick instead of paying nearly £2500 for my courses.
sorry but i felt i just needed to get that off my chest, i hope i havent offended anyone
You have to also provide a letter from an employer that they will take you on if you pass your Cat C you also have to make sure that the funding is available in your area as this does change
