Fullers Logistics, Slough?

I saw a Fowler Welch truck today with a Mars livery. Got me to thinking what happened to Fullers from Slough. They used to have all the Mars work at one time didn’t they ?. Are they still about ?.

think they still do a bit of mars work but i remember reading somewhere that they lost the main contract, maybe to Nobbys but not certain

They’re still going, one of the regular agency lads at our place does the odd day here and there for them.
I believe Fowler Welch took over the Mars contract last year but subbed a lot of the transport back to Fullers.
Did hear a rumour last year Fullers were joining one of the pallet networks, no idea if that happened or not though.

think you may be right aj, but didnt fullers also do the choc tanks also, maybe its that bit that nobbys do and fw the fridges

Fullers have been in the network i go to(on the a38 but not at fradley lol) but dont know if they were doing extra work for another depot or here for themselves

If Fullers have had to go past Bicester they will get nose bleeds and panic attacks

Might be my memory failing me (a common occurence these days :grimacing: ), but seem to recall Atchison Topeka doing the tanker work for Mars when I used to work on the trading estate a few years back.

Fullers only do a small amount of work for mars now, that is taking raw material in which they store at their depot next door. That is for convenience, Fowler Welch do all the transporting of the finished product and Van Den Bosch take in things like milk powder cocoa chocolate glucose from the continent, which I believe is sent through Veghel which is the central buying department.
It’s good fun delivering to Slough as there is a lot of animosity between Fullers drivers and Fowler Welch drivers.

I can imagine in the weighbridge office, tearoom, as that was always Fullers domain and it was hilarious to listen to the ribaldry between them. I went in that room several times over 25 years and could swear a couple of those drivers never ever moved

I was part of the furniture for quite a while but I can still see the terror on a fresh faced driver who entered the inner sanctum for the first time

I used to go to Manchester sometimes when I was on for Clan International…
