Fullers, Bordon

Hi everyone,

Been approached by an agency (a fairly reliable one, BTW) about a tramping job out of Fuller’s in Bordon, Hampshire - it involves going to Portsmouth or Poole and hooking up to a trailer, dropping it somewhere and then picking up another trailer and same again. I was familiar with Fuller’s as they are or were based in Slough; are they moving, expanding or taking over someone?

What are their trucks like? Fairly modern, clean or neither? As it’s tramping, do I get a fridge, microwave or neither? If I stay more than a week, do I keep the tractor or is it cab-hopping?

Why don’t you just rock up and ask if there are any jobs going - or are you hoping you’ll get an enhanced agency rate and don’t want to be direct employed.

I think you would probably get a more accurate picture than from the blazing trouser brigade.

Have a look at their website, tells you all about Bordon site.

Fullers were famous for having the Mars contract in Slough. I think they lost it a couple of years ago, used to see loads of their trucks. Just see them occasionally now.

Worked at Fullers in Slough for a few weeks in 2016. Trucks were std fleet type scannies, mercs or MANs. nothing special but the trucks were clean and tidy.

They did loose the Mars contract to Flowler Welch but in a strange twist still did most of the Mars contract for Fowler Welch taking loaded trailers to Desborough and then bringing trailers back down south to tip.

I have a recollection that the drivers didn’t like it when the new management came in as they changed the runs giving them more to cover and making it tight on hours etc,
