I’ve watched virtually all of the continental work disappear over the last ten years, that was the only real reason I did the job in the first place. I’m more and more fed up with the 'elf 'n safety nonsense and the over-regulation that goes with the job, the ever-increasing traffic, I have just had enough of the whole thing really.
For twenty years I’ve wanted to live on a narrowboat and spend the rest of my days pottering around the canal network, for the last two years I’ve been planning it. I originally intended to do this in 2016, then it became 2015, and then two weeks ago I actually bought one. I might carry on running the truck for one more year, I might not, I’m just weighing up all of the options at the moment.
