Fuel tanker driver - Best to work for?

Hi all,

I fancy a change, And looking to get (Try) into the fuel industry. I fancy doing forecourts / Supermarkets. Any recommendations on which companies are taking on which such kind of work?

I’ve come across Hoyer, But believe it is really really difficult to get in, Regardless they offer all the training. Is there any good companies worth considering?

I live in Stockport.

Thanks all

Not difficult to get in at hoyer they’ll take on new passes. So will stobarts. Turners, certas, Suttons. If your based in Manchester get yourself down Bramhall and knock on doors

If this is anything to go by it should be fairly easy to get a job at Hoyer

Does anyone know where Stobarts are based in the North. Somebody I know was saying they only tend to take on people with Fuels experience. Most companies I’ve spoke to will only take on with Fuels experience…. Except for hoyer who train you up from scratch

The tankers are in the container base in Widnes, used to be near lidl in Runcorn but that’s now a screwfix depot.

I think you will find obtaining any Tanker work as an equal challenge, they all have a high standard which is highly regulated.

Because its illegal to smoke in or near the vehicle, so when your interviewed they will probably ask if you smoke !! And if your driving and a cop sees you with a ■■■ in your mouth you’ll get an instant ticket… All come down to safety.

It’s illegal to smoke in any company vehicle, tanker or not.

If Hoyer white fleet go back on the Shell shift pattern then I’d say definitely go for them. The training is first rate and will put you in good stead even if you decide to move on after gaining some experience.

Can’t recommend Turners at all. The wages are lower than other companies for ADR and the people in the traffic office for Fuels are A Holes.
