the fuel tank on the man i have looks like its going to need replacing and it only takes about 200l from quarter of a tank so constantly filling up i need alot deeper tank as it got to fit in a rather narrow gap going to try and get one of another truck but how would you get a fuel sender for a tank if i have to have one made and does it have to be calibrated to the fuel gauge
you could use the existing sender. it just depends what type it is. you can extend or shorten them in most cases.
but if not, you may end up showing zero fuel, when it’s still at a quarter. you’ll get used to it.
Lee in most cases the sender units from say a scania/daf/volvo will normally fit each others tanks so you can still use your man sender unit, if its a single pick up pipe if its moulded you carnt extend the pick up pipe like on the volovos they are a full billet type of pick up pipes, to get your sender unit to read somewhere near you bend the fuel float arm out wards its just a case of putting your sender unit at the outside of the tank and bending the float arm so it seems to cover the sweep of the tank from top “full” to bottom “empty” but you may have to shape the float arm a few times to get it as near as damm it and paying attention to where the float is sitting say at half full, full empty etc, also make sure the tank you get clears things like the spring hanger brackets, etc, and dont go any lower from the ground than 7" max or you will bottom it out 7.5/8 inch is about right for ground clearence
And don’t sit it higher or you’ll bend it with the trailer on a tight uphill ramp, Eh Daz
