I’ve been googling to death for locks and security devices to fit over the top of fuel tank caps to help prevent someone smashing the fuel cap in. But couldn’t find much.
Can anyone recommend anything they use please? Thanks for any help.

Youre looking for something more than a simple locking cap? Make sure the dip-pipe is covered too as it
s easy to twist that out on many trucks.
And dont stop anywhere the bar-stewards can knock a hole in the bottom of the tank! If they can
t get in easily and quietly some will just go in with cold chisel !
Can’t help with your quest for locks Mike, but my tuppence worth is “if they want it they’ll get it”. For that reason alone I don’t even bother locking the cap. A replacement cap can be expensive, but not as expensive as a tank repair after they’ve driven a spike through it.
put anti syphon on my motor and leave caps unlocked after getting fuel robbed on reading services a few years back never had a problem since .
I never lock my fuel cap, they’ll soon get that off and they’re expensive to replace.
The sender pipe that goes in the top can be taken out in seconds, also.
I had a whole tank syphoned a few years ago, so I try and keep the level down if I’m staying out overnight and top up in the morning.
My truck has a metal filter in so they can’t syphon it out but then they can just drill into the tank if they really wanted it so I don’t think there’s much you can do

Totally agree and I do the same.
A.
Thanks all for the advice, and I agree with the sentiments also, having been on the receiving end of fuel theft in the past. On that occasion the fuel cap was smashed in and fuel pumped out.
I would like to get something fitted as a deterent and to not look like a soft target. And to make things a bit harder if they do try . A siphon is a good idea. I’ll have a look around at getting one fitted.
how about a solar powered pir floodlight on the back of your cab ■■

That’s an interesting idea, thanks.
