Fuel Saving Competition

Starting today and running for a month, our lot are running a fuel saving competition. Basically, drivers must fuel up every night and after a month, the driver with the most improved mpg wins £100. Surely this is a pointless exercise as the drivers who’ve always had good mpg and can’t get any better will lose out to a teararse who thrashes about, then has a few go slows?
Our lot also pay load bonuses. Opinions please.

Not pointless at all.

Depending on how many vehicles you run, if enough teararses slow down to save the company more than the prizemoney, they are onto a winner.

The comp is about saving the firm money, not giving anyone £100.

…and if someone with a poor record wins then he will be under pressure to maintain his improved figures, as will all the others who improved but didn’t win.
I agree that those with good figures already don’t have much chance, but that’s life .

Do nothing different in month one, Just see how it pans out.
Then if you’re at the bottom of the league table, Then try altering your driving style.

You may surprise yourself in month one and get the £100 for nothing.

Does it really matter?

Not to most; The tearses don’t give a flying you know what.

Depends on how much load bonus you get ?
If its more than £100 . . carry on as normal.

Taking the ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

Sneaking £70 worth of diesel into the unit from a covert jerry ‘flask’ arrangement will be a pain in the neck, could only reap a £30 reward and is very weird - but would potentially confuse the eff out of management.

Alternatively, the easy option is simply not to give a ■■■■.

Sounds like typical management BS to me, the whole fleet will save them over a
tonn£ anyway competing for that moolah, which one has a slim chance if winning anyway so no point stressing ones self about it, crack on with the job as you’ve always done & always think on #1…!

Easy! On last working day of month put less in so mpg figure goes only one way - UP!

Piece of **** and far less techy or stressful! :grimacing:
