Simple wooden wedge for me works on different size levers no problem. 
Can’t remember ever having to use something to wedge the handle open. That being said, I very rarely fill up at fuel stations, normally use the pump at the yard. Helps having a 600lt tank.
I keep agolf ball in the door pocket, and a tennis ball in the chain box above the diesel tank, both work fine.

Any 500 ish ml bottle. Works better if full but still works if empty and cap screwed on 
I use the spare tail lift key, just wedges nicely in the pump handle channel
