Squiddy:
I’m surprised because the government told us they would stop the fuel companies from passing their losses on to the consumer and I believed them.

Probably due to Bin Ladens death or something
Seriously though, why have the prices rocketed?
Weak £ against $. When the price of a barrel hit $150 a few years ago we were insulated by the exchange rate but now because of the weak £ against the $, even though the price of a barrel of crude is $25 less than a few years ago we’re seeing record pump prices. The current price rises are very little to do with the duty, it’s mostly down the cost of crude going northwards at a very rapid pace.

I can’t believe you just wrote that,if it wasn’t for the level of fuel duty that the thieves add to fuel and then really take the urine and charge VAT on fuel duty the increase in the price of a barrel and or exchange rates being strong or weak would not be as noticeable, a gallon of gas should be around 2-3 quid not nearly double that,we are all being shafted ands have been for years you work you pay tax, and if you run a vehicle, use electricity/gas in your home, smoke drink alcohol, then you will be giving back at least 60% of your hard earned to those thieving gits that you may not of voted for
here is a link, it’s a bit old now,but it shows just how much of a part the fuel duty & vat play in the price of fuel BBC NEWS | In Depth | World fuel crisis | UK fuel tax: The facts
Oh yeah and the reason that crude rockets isn’t always justified either, those so called speculators who like to assume the worst case scenario every time, when it comes to world conflicts, not to mention when those oil companies purposely step down production to jack up the price

Calm down dear.
I missed a word out from my post, should’ve said “the current price rises are very little to do with the duty”. I am well aware of the duty portion of the ppl but this isn’t the reason they’ve jumped up 20 ppl since the start of the year.
