Fuel prices europe

Whats the going rate at present FOR DIESEL in France, Italy, former Yugo countries, I used to go down to Luxi for mega cheap diesel, is it still cheaper there/

Hi PASTTRUCKING, I well remember the days of going to Luxembourg for cheap diesel and paddling across the muddy building sites that became the M/way services we see today. :grimacing:
Mind you, just before that, we stopped halfway down a hill in the Ardennes where the garages one one side of the road were in Luxembourg, and the garages on the other side of the road were in Belgium. IIRC, that was just past Arlon.

:open_mouth: I was surprised to see that Switzerland appears to be cheaper than Luxembourg for diesel. Would you Adam and Eve it??

Hi Ben9, I don’t recall that name TBH, but I’m going back to 1982/3, and the grey cells aren’t what they once were… :frowning:
So you’re possibly right, and I also think it would have been the N4, but I wouldn’t swear to it one way or the other.

As for Switzerland being cheaper than Luxembourg; Silly me.
My mistake was to not have considered that Switzerland doen’t use the Euro (€)
What a silly Billy.
I had found it hard to believe, but I didn’t see why.

 Fair play to you for spotting that.

To make you feel a bit better DieselDave, they are not part of the EuroZone but they do accept it, but whatever currency you use you can guarantee 1 thing:

It will be EXPENSIVE with a big capital E.

I’ve seen it below €1.30 in the Benelux, plus, if you get a discount card, you can get 5c a litre off that.
Petrol is up to 20c a liter more…

You were right in your first post, at the moment Swiss works out at €0.01 per ltr less than Lux. You couldn’t make it up :open_mouth:

DKV do a price comparison on their website, you have to log in though,
at present Luxembourg is 68% of UK price exc VAT, Followed by Slovenia and Greece at 69%. Or you could go to Russia 35% of UK price, but maybe not so economical in the long run.

I was in a routier slagging off the government with a French and Dutch driver who were slagging off their governments too.

After a lot of wine, we had worked out that unleaded petrol in Holland is actually dearer than it is in the UK now. The French man agreed that it is getting too expensive too.

Fuel at £0.74 per litre or is this cloud cuckoo land? :open_mouth:

I paid 1.13 euros a liter in Lux last week, which I think works out about 90p per litre
