Anybody got any fuel figures for the new Volvo’s, Merc’s or Dafs??
I think Merc are supposed to be the most fuel efficient but they ■■■■■■ the power on the hills. I go past loads of new Mercs with the same ponies on hills & mines 5 years old, I would be pre dropping so maybe that’s it but even so.
My merc consumes 215 lt for 419 miles
The daf xf consumes 195 lt for 419 miles
Im averaging 8.9 mpg over 5000kms in a V4 FH13 500, thats a mixture of tramping and local work.
My Daf averaged 9.5mpg overall last year on dock work pulling euroliners we never pull anymore than 25ton and this was with a mixture of weights and empty running it has a 460 engine and a 12 speed manual gearbox
I’ve got several new DAF XF 460 Euro 6’s and Merc 2545’s and there is not a lot between them.
Average of 9 mpg on traction work pulling tautliners at various weights.
