Fridges

Other that a few stints using fridges as boxes I’ve not used one for 15 + years at a guess , so I’m back on them next week , so are we still stripping down all 26 palls at Morrison’s , are Lidl still trying to get you to shrink wrap the palls you’ve stripped down , are Aldi still rejecting the full pallet if the bottom layer of pizza are squashed , are Aldi Darlington rejecting the full load still if your I think 1/2 hr late ,
I always thought fridges was a easy job , but I’d pick tauts every day , just not having to fill with red diesel after the previous bloke could be assed swings if for me , all those different lines of yogurt on a pallet you had to strip down , , bet I get Morrison’s Wakefield on Monday grrrrrrrrr

Don’t forget your ear plugs

I haven’t…

Stripped a pallet down anywhere for decades. Almost without exception it’s been split down when loaded. This includes one box on one pallet.

The last time I was asked to break a pallet down was a couple of years ago at Aldi Goldthorpe chilled. The bottom layers on one side had been shredded when being loaded (typical Stobart chill store occurrence). I told them to reject the whole pallet which they did.

Let us know how filling up with red goes :grimacing:

Stick to curtain siders and boxes far easier

Utter dozy tosh again. I have done fridges for 10 plus years. The only interaction I have with the load is self tipping at Aldi. Darlington never had to tip a load yet, they always bang it off for us. Usually get some help even at other aldis tipping most times. Athestone have always tipped us on the chilled bays as well.

Had the odd time I’ve had to help restack a pallet that’s been loaded badly, but as said if you don’t want to do that just tell them to reject the pallet.

Easiest job in the world fridges.

Not tosh at all. 15 - 20 years ago, all those things Dozy was ASKING about were a normal part of a reefer drivers job, on RDC work.
A load of different flavoured yoghurts would have at least one pallet with all the odd boxes stacked on it. It was down to the driver to break down this/these pallets and wrap the few boxes on each restacked 1 flavour pallet. Why the RDC didn’t order a number of pallets, instead of a number of pallets plus 10 boxes, or 15 boxes, or whatever, I don’t know, but they did.

I agree, not tosh at all but some of these new starts think they know it all. :unamused:

Yes we’ll I did fridges 20 yrs ago for Corby chilled , innovate , stobarts & ie Lidl Newton aycliffe , Morrison Wakefield , sittingbourne etc you would go in the warehouse & strip down the pallets , Aldi Darlington you went in the warehouse & tipped the load yourself , the bays were to the right of the building as you went through the barrier
I’m getting older but my memory is not that bad , Newton aycliffe I can remember sorting pallet after pallet of pork pies / scotch eggs etc , Morrison Stockton you’d go in the warehouse & dependent who was on they might let you go after stripping 50 % of the palls
Asda you reversed on a bay & that was it , as was Tesco , coop at alferton ( did you go there ) or cardinal you tipped the load , Lea green I can’t remember
Corby chilled would of been 20 yrs ago, as I say I’ve not done job for 15 + yrs that’s why I asked , I’d take chilled into was it tesco Middleton , how longs that been closed , was it stakehill ind eat

Funnily enough it didn’t bother me when I did them , as I did them every day , the only thing I didn’t like was when they were on cycles ( on / off )
Now I hate being parked anywhere near them

Don’t you remember stripping them down at Morrison’s , I did them at sittingbourne / Stockton / Wakefield / gadbrook , Lidl Newton aycliffe , they must of stopped it then , which is good , I did them with Corby chilled , innovate , stobart & although stobart chilled went I guess a fair few years ago , it’s not decades
Wakefield had a tiny little waiting room , you’d wait in there , then they’d call you through when they started tipping , is that still there , instead of turning left when you went through you went over into a yard , right down end bays were on right under canopy

I know a ball ache , I’m hoping the previous bloke fills it then I don’t , obviously I will fill it !!

I’d agree , but it seems the job is nothing like I remember , I remember 26 palls of yogurts all mixed up , trying to sort that lot out , but it seems they’ve not done it for year , though knowing my luck it will start again

Thankyou Simon , I was starting to doubt my self , do you know when stripping down was stopped , as I say at a guess it’s 15 + yrs since I’ve don’t chilled
Think it was just Morrison’s/ Lidl you did it , but wasn’t it something to do with them letting you go without the pod (there’s a word for it ?, drop & drive is it ) if you didn’t go in warehouse you’d have to wait for them to strip down palls & that could take hours , sure Morrison’s rang up & reported some drivers for not going in warehouse and stripping down as there was some kind of agreement between Morrison’s & can’t remember if it was stobarts / Corby chilled
Anyway thankyou as last thing I need is my memory failing

I remember the majority of the fleet stuck down south when it was bad snow , I just managed to get out of coop at Thurrock before it got bad , the boss commented that the competitors fleets were all still running , which pointed the finger at crap drivers , didn’t go down well

I was referring to another dozy tosh post, instead of just getting on with the job he’s given, he has to find something wrong with it or whinge about something.

And yes your right maybe it was normal years ago but things have changed and often moved on for the better.

You really are quite tedious to say the least. And nearly 20 years of driving trucks and Vans is hardly a new start. Whether it’s on a rigid or artic the loads are pretty much the same.

Adding very little to a topic as usual, just a usual Jakethesnake day.

Possibly but I’d rather be that way than a conceited smarty pants like you.

Smarty pants? That’s vicious
