Fridges left on at night!

As for the rant of ROBK, he seems to be having a bad day and is one of the reasons I left trucknet a few years ago. I mistakenly thought the forum was for debate not abuse !!!

lots of people will have different views on this subject, personnally I park on ind eststes for a quityer life. Sometimes a reefer parks nearby, but that gives me some one to chat to or go to the pub with :smiling_imp: although most run the fridge on full to get the temp down and then turn it off through the night.

As for your quote above :unamused: I can’t see where rob has abused you or anyone else, he’s just said his piece, joining in the debate, in his own straight forward way.

Well that’s just it Dave, I do the same  .

This is just the sort of SELFISH N.I.M.B.Y. topic that really me off.

Do you ever hear those of us who do nights on tramping complaining about not being able to sleep due to noise and commotion you DAY driver’s are making, shouting at each other at the top of your voices in truck stops while WE are trying to sleep?

NO.

So shut the up whinging and go and park elsewhere if it bothers you that much.

It really me off when I read about driver’s moaning that they can’t sleep in the truck at night because of this noise and that noise keeping them awake. WHY THE HAVE YOU COME INTO THE INDUSTRY TO DO NIGHT-OUT WORK IF YOU CAN’T SLEEP WITH NOISE ? ? ?

Use your brains, idiots.

So you don’t think that’s abuse then David 51? I wonder what you would consider abuse. Would you use language like that to someone’s face? I doubt it!
I’m with Bertie on this. He asked a reasonable question and didn’t deserve the above response. We all have a laugh with Rob, but that was uncalled for.

Salut, David.

Read the first line of my reply and the rest is justified. End of.

Rob K:

You are clearly unable to tell the difference between a comeback & abuse. So what you are saying is this; If we don’t like you abusing us, then we shouldn’t post on this site? This is not the Rob K forum.

NEWSFLASH You typing ā€˜end of’ does not end the debate.

Salut, David.

Yes agreed reasonable question.

Last time I stopped in an MSA I was woken up by a driver running his engine at high revs, after 5 mins I got up dressed and spoke to said driver, his excuse of having to build his air  up did in fact lead to a response using the above language. I got to say that this isn’t an isolated incident, it seems whenever drivers start in a morning they run their engines for ages to ensure the rest of us are awake, Reefer drivers on the other hand have to run their fridges.

:bulb: If it takes so long to build air up then I’d say the truck should be defected :bulb:

As for robs rant I suppose the bit calling us idiots was abit out of order :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Whats with this nimby crap? ROBK I don’t use the language you seem to use, it was a reasonable question pulled into the gutter.
I’ve been in transport for more than 25 years, 20 of them on the road and spent more nights in my wagon than in my own bed. I’ve had good nights and bad nights at good stops and bad but your blinkered view gets me.
I was one of the first members on trucknet and the moderators did not allow language hidden or otherwise on here and most certainly no one would jump down a new members throat.
Maybe the question was not to someones liking but it was a reasonable one. I have said that I am personally against reefer drivers, in fact it is bulkers who get my back up as I have never past one yet.

You need to do some more proper graft, if you can’t sleep. after a 15 hours shift, I will sleep on a washing line :stuck_out_tongue:

What about the ferries? sorry Captain, can you park up quietly somewhere so I can get my 11 hours beauty sleep.

As for the bloke at Swindon T/S, maybe he lives iin Swindon and that is his operating centre

bertiebassett:
I have said that I am personally against reefer drivers

 Why?

bertiebassett:
Whats with this nimby crap?

NIMBY = Not In My Back Yard. That is, you want the stuff to be there in the supermarket or wherever you buy it from but don’t want the ā€œproblemsā€ and the noise associated with getting it there, ie. let someone else suffer the noise. For example, those people that live in places like Bath that want all the stuff on the shelves and in the town so that they can go and buy it when they’re on their shopping spree, but don’t want trucks in the town. That’s exactly the attitude you’re portraying.

ROBK I don’t use the language you seem to use,

What do you want ? A medal ? I don’t see any abusive language in any of my posts, unless you consider the work ā€˜idiot’ abusive. It is your own imagination working overtime filling in the gaps yourself.

it was a reasonable question

I disagree. The post overall was selfish and ill-thought out.

pulled into the gutter.

I’ve been in transport for more than 25 years, 20 of them on the road and spent more nights in my wagon than in my own bed.

I couldn’t give a [zb] whether it was your first night out or 100,000th.

I’ve had good nights and bad nights at good stops and bad but your blinkered view gets me.
I was one of the first members on trucknet

And? That changes what, exactly?

and the moderators did not allow language hidden or otherwise on here

Clearly your time away from the forums has clouded your head then, as [zb] has been used for ā€œhidden languageā€ since the forums began.

and most certainly no one would jump down a new members throat.

Regardless of whether they are a newbie or a long-standing member, selfish posts such as your own will allus attract strong opinions for and against and I don’t see why I’m not entitled to my opinion, especially as I’ve experience on the subject from both sides of the coin.

Maybe the question was not to someones liking but it was a reasonable one. I have said that I am personally against reefer drivers

So now you’re discriminating against reefer drivers - even though you’ve been one yourself - and are now tarring all reefer drivers with the same brush :unamused: :

I pulled reefers myself in the past

in fact it is bulkers who get my back up as I have never past one yet.

Not content with reefer drivers, you’re now having a go at bulkers too :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:  .

Small language edit. L.

Rob K, being called a ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  idiot IS offensive, how can you think otherwiseā– ā– ? The whole tone of your post is aggresive. No-one attacks you with your ā€˜rant of the week’ crap, do they? You’d be the first person to moan about it.

The fact is, just because the swear words were censored, doesn’t change the fact that you posted them.

I dread to think what new members think when they first look at this site, I really hope they don’t think that all lorry drivers are like you.

To return to the post topic for a moment, though i’ve done my last week on reefers for the foreseable future, i allway found that a word with the parking attendant about not being able to switch off over night, would find you being placed out of the way. Tough luck if being with in 50yds off a running frigde would keep you awake but at least yuo’ve tried  What gets to me is when blokes start blowing horns at 8 oclock at night or later, have they never had to bed down early for a 2am start or the like, thats pure ignorance

Not at all. In all the time I’ve been here I’ve never once taken my bat and ball home like numerous other members I could mention and believe me, I’ve been on the receiving end of some heavy firing before you joined, TGOC. There’s an old saying : ā€˜If you can’t take the heat don’t stand next to the fire’ and some on here would do well to think about that before getting on their soap boxes. :bulb:

Judging by the ever-increasing numbers of new members and new diaries popping up every week it would seem that the majority of newbies really enjoy the site and its content, good and bad.

I am fully aware that a minority of members do not like my ā€˜to the point’ and undiplomatic ways but then they wouldn’t find yourself on the receiving end of it if they didn’t post stupid topics where the only person they’re bothered about is themselves.

I have absolutely nothing against anyone being ā€˜to the point’, but your post in this thread went beyond that. It was aggresive & abusive. I, for one, don’t subscribe to the ā€˜it’s Rob K so we forgive him’ way of thinking.

Nor does anyone else.

ENOUGH THE PAIR OF YOU![/b][/size]
You are both bordering on editable personal attack, and both descending into a childish slanging match which is dragging this thread off topic.
If you - or anyone else - wish(es) to continue this argument, take it to e-mail or PM not here on the forums.
You may both give yourselves a mighty pat on the back, because thanks to both of you this thread is now in last chance saloon.
THIS IS A YELLOW CARD

The thing that narks me as being a fridge driver myself(and no i don’t turn it off at any time of the year as a rejected load through tempreture is a sackable offence espicially if the recorder shows you’ve turned it off!) is the [zb] of drivers who can see you are parked up with the fridge running and then park next to you and then ask,is that thing running all night?.What a dumb question and then proceed to moan about the racket?.I mean the brains of some drivers,if you don’t like the noise ,foxtrot oscar and park somewhere else, though saying that i do try to be considerate when i park, but if i’m struggling to find somewhere then i’ll park where i can.I’m entitled to my time off as much as the next man.

I agree with the sentiment, but it had to go. L.

You can’t switch the Fridge off when Food loaded.

Some Drivers do it when they deliver Milk to retailes to get not a Cold,as it is worm and in Fridge Cold.
But,as I,-Bought on 13th a Cravental with Expiredate 16th.Couldn’t use it in Cafe as it broke!

jammymutt:
Dont you think its more important that someone who has to do maybe a 15 hour shift with a 10 hour drive the next day should be made to have a good nights kip?.
.

Precisely - which is why having a reefer driver laying there all night worried if some muppet is going to turn off his fridge isn’t a good idea.

Out of all the types of driving I’ve done, the reefers and containers do the longest hours.

Spardo:
As for health and safety. What about the health and safety of the driver denied his proper rest and all in his path the next day. The result of extreme action would be discipline for the driver not danger to the public because a spoiled load would not be accepted.

Salut, David.

So its OK for up to 20000 people to get food poisoning from a bad batch of chickens?

And that discipline you’re on about could be the driver losing his job or in a case of an owner driver, the contract.

Jeesus. Nice to see what kind of scum I’m working with.

Very borderline again…careful! L.

When i finish after a 15 hour day the red arrows could buzz the cab and I would sleep through it. I used to drive reefers and always tried to be considerate but you will always get the prats who have a go at you. If i park up now and a fridge is running I will park next to it because like I say it doesnt keep me awake and it saves the poor sod getting earache off anyone else. When I first started on this job my first night out was on the top of a mountain in Wales. i couldnt sleep because it was too quiet, I kept leaping up thinking the fridge had gone off
And for the record I find it offensive that people make sweeping judgements about drivers of certain types of vehicles. Grow up. we all have a job to do.

Vanessa. BULKER DRIVER!
