Tippers, followed by skip drivers who are the lowest of all drivers. Its my understanding that fridge drivers are the elite of the trucking world.

No, wide loads are that’s why we get more than one lane, escorts, special parking and lots of pretty flashing lights :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

WTF are you on about?. All drivers have their owns skill sets applicable to their particular job.

The only scale that slides downward is the ranking of some of the ■■■■■ that post on here.

We are all drivers. We all do the same job which is transport stuff.

As a fridge driver I can sympathise with some comments and I am sure some of you may sympathise with my predicament, having to share a cabin with a fat/obese curtainsider driver who snores as we cross the Channel overnight.Indeed one apologised last week for his snoring and promptly stuffed ear plugs in HIS ears while once again apologising he couldn’t offer me any, lifes crap get used to it.

Yes can someone on here explain the reason for doing this, and why the engine is left running for five minutes after they arrive

I’m pretty sure the drivers handbook in our Dafs advises to leave the motor idling for a few minutes after running at speed for a long period. It’s to allow the turbo to cool down a bit before the oil stops circulating, thus avoiding problems with the oil “cooking” in a hot turbo. Been a while since I read it though, so maybe my recollection is incorrect…

the turbo glows red hot when it is working, if you let it wind down after pulling up, it gives the bearings and shafts time to run in cooler oil before simply stopping the thing spinning

Now had a chance to check the handbook, and yes- it advises that the engine should be left idling for at least 5 minutes after a long run or under heavy load, to allow the turbo to cool and to prevent coolant boiling up.

Also handy if you’re nuking your food, microwaves, ovens etc are quite a drain on the battery, so easier to have the engine running if using one.

Theres always some prick that dumps their running fridge trailer in between a load of curtainsiders at services, before looking for the fridge parking area. Knobs!

Idiot… How do you think all of the chilled / frozen food you eat gets to you !!!

Good Day

Some less reputable companies have been known to use magnets, fuses and wires to get stuff delivered on time.
