AC surely as in air cooling :open_mouth:   :bulb:

Just normal 12v car batteries aren’t they? Ones I’ve seen certainly have been

Think carriers have the large optime yellow top batteries.
But Im sure anything will do if it fits to get you out of a jam

Jam is ambient, ain’t it?
.
Can’t think why you’d need a gel battery on a fridge engine?
Gel is normally for 4x4 and off road bikes, or deep cycle stuff.

They may not be a factory fit but this ^^^^ is exactly what ours get replaced with.

Normal lead acid battery should be fine. Gel batteries are more for things like sea-going boats and aeroplanes to prevent the electrolyte from spilling out if they are subjected to extreme angles.

I would hazard a guess it to do with the deep cycle bit, ie they can still start the engine when they are getting weak, the other fridges we have are on normal batteries and they are always dying.
I am sure if they were not needed then Carrier would not fit them as they must cost twice the std lead acid batteries?

Standard glass mat, is sufficient, Gel or leisure batteries are for motorhomes or caravans

Usually a knackered battery that’s just replaced off a unit

I am sure that is the general thinking, but we have loads of carriers and they all have the yellow tops fitted.

Be interesting to see if anyone that pulls a carrier or runs them can open the front doors and look behind the offside panel and see what colour their battery is? it is easy to see you dont even need to be on the catwalk, can see from the floor no worries.

Our new thermo Kings have Gel batteries, our older ones use STD 12v car batteries.
