I much prefer thermo Kings to carrier fridges. Carrier fridges sound like a bloody tank compared to the Thermo Kings.
Quick question, I drive with a fridge on at night so I avoid services and tend to find places where there’s no-one parked but occasionally I have to pull into an occupied layby. So my question is, if I pull in behind you can you still hear it or is it faint enough that it isn’t an issue ?
Petter fridges were abit on the noisy side ,they always covered the back of the cab and catwalk in oil aswell

Leave it on constant?
Tossco have messed about with some of theirs so they only run on stop start, I’m sure some outfits have followed suit…

On the odd occasion I have pulled a fridge and had to night out, less than a handful of times, I learnt a valuable lesson the first night… switch the thing off! I know you shouldn’t but I’ve never had any feed back so all was good.Oh jesus, not another one who thinks this is alright
Think you’ll find he was referring to his own one
Salute them! Why? It’s fairly simple really. If you cannot sleep because of the noise do not do the job. Personally I found the constant noise helpful at drowning out other horrible noises. Can’t believe anyone would switch one off just to get a kip! Too risky.

I think it depends on the individual. Some people are heavy sleepers and some are light sleepers.

If you are behind it will be very faint and only noisey enough to wake up the lightest of sleepers. When you get chance in a big yard do a figure of eight with the fridge running and at certain angles you will hear it getting quieter.
If you really have a problem with the noise, drop the ■■■■ thing and park the unit somewhere else. When I did them, I left them on continuous in the summer and switched them off in the winter.

when doing trl swaps in places like all4trucks i have parked behind or at the side by the back doors if i need a 24, the only real pain in ■■■ with some fridges is the interference they give out, causing the TV to loose signal

I understand this, I just wondered if it could be heard

Cheers for that reply
premature industrial deafness rules for being on them for a while…if your a woose and cant sleep, either put it on constant,or drop the fridge, park across the back doors so nobody can break into it.best sleep yo will get is to leave your own fridge on constant, and park between couple of running fridges.once your asleep, then nothing will wake you.to be fair, then theres some fridges that will have you jumping out of your skin when they rattle into life or die again, but its like everything else, you et used to the noise, and its the quiet that has you wakened thinking, what the ■■■ woke me,then its the inevitable,i wonder if its the macodougall diesel fairies, peek out the curtains, lie back down again, then it dawns on you, that you now need a pee,
