No one has filled fridge for a while by the sound of it , yes there’s a primer but not sure where it is, have you opened the doors and had a look inside ?

If you can’t read PDF’s, here’s what it says.

PRIMING FUEL SYSTEM
The mechanical fuel lift pump is mounted on the engine next to the
injection pump. This pump has a manual plunger for priming thefuel
system when the fuel tank has been run dry.
To prime the fuel system, use the following steps:

  1. Turn the bleed valve (Red) counter-clockwise until fully
    opened.
  2. Turn the top of the manual fuel pump plunger
    counter-clockwise to unlock it. S-L-O-W-L-Y (up/down once
per second) pump the manual plunger until positive pressure
(resistance) is felt. This may take up to 200 strokes. This will
    indicate fuel flow.
  3. Continue to pump S-L-O-W-L-Y (up/down once per second)
approximately 100 more strokes to fill the filter and bleed the air
    out of the lines.
  4. Start engine. It may be necessary to continue to pump until the
    engine starts.
  5. Depress and turn the top of the manual plunger clockwise to
    lock in place.
  6. When engine is running smoothly, turn bleed valve clockwise
    until fully closed.

Thanks chaps. We run at +4. Fridge was up to +6.8. Just waiting to be unloaded. See what hap pens all running now

Wasn’t a good start. Unit not hooked up, someone couldn’t be bothered. Half tank diesel, no fridge diesel and someone has "borrowed my phone charger

From past experience, bleeding a Carrier fridge is a right pain in the arse and not something I’d relish doing again. The extra “100 pumps to fill the fuel filter” (from the PDF) can be worked round by getting yourself a jerry can with some cherry in it and filling it up that way.

white works just well lol

Some Carriers have electric fuel pumps and are a doddle to bleed.Just crank them 3 times and they will usually fire. Those without electric pumps can be a real pain as the lift pumps are about as much good as a chocolate tea pot to lift fuel from the belly tank.

Easy way to start them is check the red fuel feed to the pump.Just under the engine is a push fit connector.Pull it apart and put the pipe end into a pot of diesel. The lift pump will pull up fuel from this height in about 20 strokes.(dont bother with the leeching thumb screw on the injection pump)Pressurise the fuel and turn on the motor.Once its fired and kicked in the power alternator for the fans just push the pipe back together. You can use the throttle rod to clear any air in the system and if its trying to start but it cuts off the starter before it kicks in just short out the starter solenoid so it keeps cranking till she fires. The module will keep the pump solenoid open while you short out the motor.
