friday the 13th

My week should be:
Thursday 1800 -0700(ish) warrington
Friday 1700 - 0200 cairnryan
Saturday 1300 - 0200 warrington
Sunday 1700 -0300 cairnryan
Monday 1700 - 0300 cairnryan

instead it is looking more like this:
Thursday 1800 - 0830 warrington
Friday 1830 - 0930 cairnryan then shop deliveries to wishaw and Motherwell, swap truck, pull out the yard and night out
Saturday 1830 - 0800 warrington
Sunday 1700 - 0300 cairnryan
Monday 1700 - 0300 cairnryan

not enough drivers to cover Saturday morning so i was asked to do shops after my cairnryan then night out to save me having to go home. The place will be shut during my time off so this also means i am all signed up and ready to go to Warrington. Sunday will be a voluntary kip in the truck instead of going home which i have done a couple of times before

i am finishing up here in 2 weeks and i am still helping out (lining my own pockets in the process of course)

Why you finishing up with them, I thought you liked that gig cos it had plenty of hours.

Yeah mate, few of your posts seem like you love it in there…■■?

Too many hours commuting. 9 off and having to go home is too much. That’s 14 1/2 hours then 9 off which is about 5 hours sleep. That’s ok for a Cairnryan but i then did 15 hours and i had to do some actual work. 9 off again but its a Warrington this time. Luckily the agreement was that i night out for helping them so i am parked up 100 yards from the RDC entrance. Tomorrow will be 9 off again with a 30 mile drive each way. ASDA is walking distance from home

besides, i can earn in 10 hours on a Saturday at ASDA the same as i get for 13 hours here. A decent weekday rate but no extra for weekends. Rumour is that they are starting backhauls soon which will make time off even tighter plus a rota is supposedly being written up. I am freelance and will not be put in a position where i have to ask for time off. Its very rare for me to take a day off but i like having control over my own working pattern and being able to take a day off if i feel like it. With reasonable notice but that is out of respect rather than an obligation

You told them that? They may adapt to you to keep you.

I know the feeling Scanny, I only did 3 shifts in there, one was a Warrington, took me over 1.5 hours to get home from there at 8am, Luckily at that point in time I wasn’t chasing the money, I told the woman at the agency “If you want me in there, don’t expect me out the next night!!!” 18 hours from when I walked out my front door till I walked back in!!!

Good luck at ADSA, let us know how you get on :stuck_out_tongue:

To be fair, i suggested switching my 2nd run to Wishaw Motherwell instead of glenrothes, i made it back and parked up in the Warrington truck 100 yards from the gate and got my night out then asked to have my start time pushed back an hour today. Not one discussion about any of that. I have done 44 hours duty over a 62 hour period but it has been pretty much on my terms. 2 cairnryans then my well deserved weekend can begin although i am doing yet another DCPC module on wednesday

Lucky you…
