I can see I’m not alone with being very wary of Friday the 13th,been done twice for speeding on the M/Ways,first time was one afternoon returning up the M6 in the car with our Fleet Engineer as we had been down to a bad accident one of our Scanias was involved in.I was clogging on a bit chit chatting when this ■■■■■■■ Paddy went past in an artic ■■■■■■■ airbourne he was,anyhow a bit further on around Garstang up behind me rolls the unmarked Old Bill with the blues flashing,Oh! ■■■■ it.So I pulls over and had to get into their motor for “interview” 93mph “sir” ! So I says what about Paddy a little way back that ■■■■ wants locking up! Can’t do much with those boys Sir they just disappear back into the Bog and we can never get them back! So whats it to be a fixed penalty or if you elect to go to court in Garstang they will defo give you a ban as they don’t like speeding for some reason ! Doh! Three Points as well.The second occaision was at 6:20 AM just south of Frankley on the M5,I was on my way in the car to a meeting at a Paper Mill near Cullompton so as I had left home nearly two hours previously I thought I’d pull onto Frankley for a leak but then changed my mind and decided to go on to Strensham,so not thinking I stabbed my foot down a bit to crack on,hardly any traffic on the M/Way nice and clear but just past the next Junction A38? out of nowhere and straight up behind me comes a XJ6 of the West Midlands finest,blues flashing Oh! ■■■■ it !!! So I’m sat in the back of the Jag and of these gestapo ■■■■■(Peak on helmet touching bridge of nose!) sticks his face between the front seats right into my “boat” Ha ha you ■■■■ I haven’t had a drink the night before ! Do you know what we clocked you at Mr.Smith ? I says No! but tell me (I knew I had been tramping on a bit 
) “Well you were “clocked” at 98 mph which if you’d been over the “ton” you would have got a ban so count yourself lucky this time” So I says “there’s hardly any traffic running so what was I doing so wrong” ! So this ■■■■■■■ Sturmbahnfurer say’s finally “Have you got a cruise control on your car”? Which I had but very rarely used it,so he says “Might I suggest you start using it then” !!! Is that it then,can I go now I’ve got a long and busy day in front of me!! These two Gestapo had just come onto 6 am shift so they wern’t wasting anytime in nicking their quota was they,■■■■■!Another Friday the 13th involved our four southbound trunk trailers getting mixed up for their different destinations but that’s another tale for telling
