Friday Rush Hour

Was the usual snarled up areas quite were you were in the afternoon? came north on the A1 expecting to be held up some of the way up from peterboro, never lifted off all the way up, even the dreaded A1 M18 junction was taken flat out at 6pm.
Even the traffic lady on R2 sounded suprised by the amount of routes that were quite, even the M25!!

Early finishes.

I had a nice early finish, around midday the M6 to A14 slip was only to the top of the slip road, but massive queues building northbound at M1 jct 16 as usual.

Clocked off at 2pm, lovely, i bloody hate friday afternoons on the road when the lemmings do their best to kill themselves.

Took me an hour to get from M23 J9 for Gatwick to the M25 last night between 2300-0000. Not bloody happy.

I was runnin down the M6 from Stafford to J10 at about 4pm and couldn’t believe how free flowing it was, I was tootling along quite happily in the roadworks at 47 and even had to stop for 30 minutes after I came off the M6 to toss the job off a bit.

Followed you down through Catthorpe around 15.00 & the slip was still the same, (traffic at the top) joined the M1 & it was very light heading south, Northbound was moving ok as well, got off at 18 to collect a load from Long Buckby, then flew through Towcester, Northbound A5 was a bit sticky queuing through Towcester, but all in all, it seemed pretty quiet for a Friday.

i came back from queensferry round 5pm down M56 into manchester never lifted at all even when i came in over M6 split with M56 that was running smoothly not even the M60 was clogged up from middleton back to astley apart from 3 cars running into back of each other in lane 2 round A56 junction on M60

Dartford crossing NB.Crossed that about 18.30 and sailed through Came of at jct28 for the A12 and no problems up that way either. Was very surprised.Least the commute home was more bearable and quicker than usual.

I didn’t hit any traffic at all which is a very rare for Friday’s, mind you I only did a drop to Outokumpo in Sheffield then back to Barnsley to pick up a trailer for an 11:30 Asda Redhouse
Tipped that then came the back way back to our yard, cleaned truck out, got all my gear and washed it down, was clocked off at 15:30 result  Not in now untill 5th January.

A1M/M18 junction was nose to tail around 2pm because someone hit the back of someone. 35 mins to get through. That was the only traffic i hit on my 767km adventure

I too had a 700+km epic on Friday, Grantham to Falkirk and back to Newcastle. 2 mins hold up on way up on the M74 passing Crawford when the hero in the Beemer figured the snow in lane 3 didn’t apply to him! Apart from that nothing. Even hit the Edinburgh bypass at 5pm ish and never came off the cruise! Deeply suspicious I thought at the time.

Massive thank you to the girls in the Toon on Friday night who seem to think that the way to combat the cold is to wear less! Good girls.

I’m getting to the age where the mind is willing but the flesh is not Steve! There aren’t many things that can make me concentrate on two things at once mate, but there was plenty about that managed it.

I’m reckoning that because most of us got away with it last Friday, Christmas Eve is gonna be a Bummer !
I wouldn’t fancy coming out of ‘Londoom’ any time after 11am. Seen some Horrendous Traffic Jams on the M1 & M25 on Christmas Eve over the years. (Especially when it used to be only 2 lanes around Watford, pre M25 days)

Lucky Me, I finish Tuesday afternoon/evening.
