quick one befoe i go out tonight, here are some fords…feel free to add more of your own, see how many we can get!!!
Interesting pics which prompt a few questions - who ran the rather sorry looking grey one from Melton Constable? You can’t make out the name on the headboard…
Also the one in the red/orange livery (not the Astran one, the one in the yard shot), was that local as well? Wasn’t that the livery Ford used on their publicity Transconti’s in the late 70’s? I remember seeing an article in TRUCK mag, must’ve been '78 or '79, when they had one of their ‘tests’ involving a new ford in exactly that livery, and (my memory is a bit hazy now…) an F89? I stand to be corrected on that.
I also recall that the same article said that there had been a bit of a shaky start to the test, because a Ford employee who had been charged with the task of cleaning the truck prior to TRUCK’s arrival had fallen off the roof of the cab!!! Remember that in those days the Transconti’s cab must have been one of the highest around!!
I’d be interested to know if any other members recall that test, the same truck was featured all over the trucking press for ages back in the late 70’s.
Looking at them now I reckon they stood the test of time; they still look good even today!!

i cant remember who had the sad looking grey one, but when i get home i will have a look. it is owned by the same person who has the orange one pictured, i guess it was canibalized for anything worth saving. they are from somewhere in norfolk, i cant remember where i spotted them, but i stopped as my mate is transconti mad. the grey one im sure was owned by a mill which got brought out by abn and subsequently got closed down
thanks very much nice photos,
