Oh lol…im just a hairdresser !!!Julie,
I’m sorry to hear of what happened to you and I’ve signed your petition.
In an attempt to cheer you up, I can tell you that ROG drives a hairdresser’s car.

lol…nice…I dont have a hairdressers car…but I soon will…Ive had the vitara before and I can tell you they are useless for lugging stuff about as trying to get into the boot is a pain with a soft top roof!So I dont even know why hairdressers have them, I had mine so my hair could blow free in the wind lol.
With regards to there only being 200 ish signatures, its really hard going for me trying to get people to sign it, ive been in the paper, on the news, done radio interviews to get it out there, perhaps if any of you are on facebook you could share the link, I have set up a facebook page for it this is the link facebook.com/pages/Blind-sp … 30?fref=ts
And the link for the petition epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/41241
Thanks again though to those of you who have signed, I really appreciate it.
I’ve used fresnel lenses in the past & they work well. But they fall off after a a few window openings. The camera system is better but still not foolproof. Nobody is going to pay for something that doesn’t work after opening the window half a dozen times. Good I
Idea but it needs refining.
I would love to sign ,but I’am unable to:
1: I’am not British
2: I don’t live In the UK.
I had one of these Fresnel Lenses & It was very good. I bought mine In the BP trukstop back In '96…
I will say that,If a driver In a LHD truck uses his ‘Kerb’ mirror correctly than this will minimalise the chances of Him/Her side-swiping any other vehicles…
BTW, They should have to pay for the Frensel lens…
Signed it for you julie, 141. Good cause. All the best.
just signed up , allways wondered what those strange lens things were for and what they were called
I know now !
cheers Mike
Julie I can fully understand your concern, must have been a terrifying episode but was it really the lack of driver vision which caused your little mishap.I did own a Scania
20 years ago which had an absolute hatred for Peugot 205’s…not only did I sideswipe one French and one Portugese 205 my buddy who drove it sideswiped a 205 in Bristol.
It may just be that the commercial vehicle in question did not like your particular make of vehicle Julie, what do you actually drive it would be interesting to know.It
could even be that some bicycles hate some makes of car, superstar Cavendish had his bicycle smash into the BACK of an innocent motorist as he went along his way,
Strange happenings,ah! I note you drove a Skoda well that answers it then,East European lorry falls in love with East European car,a touching romance.

i`ve signed your petition.i have seen trucks fitted with these and assumed the driver had bought one■■? a brilliant idea why cant uk drivers be issued with one at port of exit when we go abroad??
I’ve been given loads of them by UK customs at the passport window in Calais in the past when they were having a big drive to issue them to LHD trucks.
just signed it…244.
We used to carry them on our vehicles in the HA traffic officer service. I’ve just nipped out and had a look through our equipment stock and have found a few stored.
I’ll enquire with the powers that be and see if I can get the lenses carried in our vehicles for issue to LHD trucks.
Good luck with the petition

blimey can’t wait to see that diary, that atlantic bridge went up overnight
good luck julie, when i’ve signed your petition, i’m gonna see if i can find others that deal with road pricing, diesel pricing, lack of parking for trucks in the uk, lack of decent facilities for trucks and truck drivers in the uk, cabotage and more.
seriously good luck with your m.p, as they may be more sympathetic to a member of the public, than they would be to our needs.
Glad to know that the poles are at last stepping into line with regard to their driving tests, maybe they should re-call some of the earlier testees, who did obtain their licences via a farm tractor.
Anyway, one thing that was brought back to my memory of driving abroad with a right hand drive truck was the lack of designers to invent a mirror that a driver could use when overtaking, the rule of thumb for me was to sit behind a vehicle, forever looking in my mirrors, and follow an overtaking truck, to see if it was safe to overtake myself, it did cause all sorts of problems though, i did have a mirror fitted to the n/s grab handle which was ok to use in some instances, but nobody actually invented a safe system, it was all down to a drivers intuition, well it worked, cos i`m still here.
I have edited this post and will no longer be commenting on this site due to the post below… I will leave it with you now…thankyou to everyone who has signed
Andju a far simpler solution to what ails you is stop buying, period, the UK does not produce,my Euro colleagues come to this country because we import soooooo
much, not i can assure by choice. The life for a lorry driver in the UK is dire.Your efforts are understandable, very much like someone who moves to the country and complains about the smells. I will NOT be signing your petition.
as i have said above I will no longer be commenting on this site due to the previous post…I didnt come on here to be made to feel stupid,I dont like hostility, I was asking for a bit of support only if you felt it was a good idea, and your views on the lens, … I will leave it with you now…thankyou to everyone who has signed and for those have left me kind comments

For turnip and others:
I fitted a few to Premium windows. I cut the lens to match the window profile
and managed to tuck the bottom edge of the lens under the rubber strip. Stays put then.
