Sounds good then. OK, what about Turners, Knowles or jack richards then.

Work for Knowles, easy work left alone to do your job, pays not bad and the kits good. On there web page is a application form to download .Theres a few foreign drivers but not many.

Thanks for that i done an application just before xmas, do you know if it is mainly tramping, dont mind a couple of nights out but cant do away all week because of disabled sons.

everyone who starts is told 2 nights away a week max! unless you want tramping .

Lmao it was on my phone and auto changed from 12 to 15 on predictive for some reason lmfao

A fella was telling me the other day that freshlinc have just but the wages up to try and get some of the British drivers back. Due to the amount of damage done.

Got to love all this negativity. Your not going to earn mega money anywhere these days im afraid if transport companies aren’t making vast amount of profits then there not going to pay £12 an hour if they cant afford to. Blame the supermarkets who want the transport doing for nothing and drive the rates down. Blame the government for the extortionate fuel prices. Im not a big fan of foreign drivers but its so easy to blame them rather than looking at the bigger picture of the transport industry as a whole. Ive worked for Freshlinc on a self employed basis and ive found them ok to work for. They haven’t decent tackle (when its not being smashed up!) decent work all mostly rdc work on the uk. I worked on the European side so cant really tell you what the uk side is like to work for but I know some of the lads in the office and there ok. Yes there is Polish in the office who have to translate to drivers from English office staff which I don’t agree with and is and overhead they could cut out. Payrise recently 7.10 per hour and £10 an hour overtime. As said your not going to get a high rate of pay in this area its not London wages. Depends on your personal circumstances as well if your single no ties or got a family to feed. Oh and theres a fair few Lithuanians at Freshlinc who I think have a totally better work ethic and ive worked with some who will stop and help you put the last trolly or pallet while all the so called elite English drivers have long gone because there ok jack!

How much of the low pay is due to being parked up at RDC’s for hours instead of out earning?

Thanks for that. Like i said on the original post, i just want to know what they are like to work for and what the pays like and if it is mainly return to base. Not to bothered about foreign drivers just foreign management, done that before and you get all the crap stuff. As for the pay the average around spalding, peterborough and west norfolk areas is about £8.5 to £12.5 a lot is the £8.5 for 40 hours then time and a half.

You could try Robsons. I know a few guys that have gone there and they are enjoying it so far

I did some work for gmk which is run and owned by a director of Robsons.

His name is Martin Kemp, (no not that one) he was going to give me a job at Robsons when I passed my class one, but Browns offered me full time first and with a young family, I didn’t want to run the risk of not having full time work, if his offer wasn’t forthcoming (not that he gave me any reason that he wasn’t a man of his word).

Last I was told they are on £8.50ph, £19 night out and parking NOT paid. Mostly garden centre work and groupage to Aldi.

Decent kit, all Renault Premiums and run straight none of this pull ya card job.

I’d work there!

Forgot about robsons, they’ve got a yard in kings lynn aswel. I take it most of their work is flowers then if its mainly garden centres.

not going very well at levicks then

Hello. No that went wrong and fast. Wont slag em off or ■■■■■ about them. Work was ok.

If people are put off by companies because most of their trucks are driven by Poles, then won’t this always be the case as English drivers stay away? Obviously there are reasons why companies become so heavily foreign dominated but its not necessarily because they’re a crap company. One of my previous companies has tons of Poles now and while the pay was fairly crap, it was no worse than other local firms who had a full English contingent. It mostly boiled down to the fact that most locals didn’t want the aggro of ferry trailers with all the sliding roofs, side boards, strapping down etc and preferred to be on containers and other work that involved less contact. They couldn’t get a constant supply of English drivers to stay so they had to employ Poles and others. I didn’t mind working for them though and probably still would be if I lived in England.

Crikey I forgot about Martin. I did some agency work at Robsons first on class 2 then then class 1. 10 years ago now. Mainly garden centre multi drops. Quite enjoyed it. Was away all week. Saw some nice parts of the UK visiting the garden centres! Did a bit for Tim’s other company I think he owned, Buffham’s. I liked working at Buffhams. Nice and easy and the TM was a really nice bloke. Can’t remember his name.

I’ve heard knowles is a good touch too.

If the government get their way with the minimum wage in years to come, HGV driving is going to become a minimum wage gig. What a sorry state of affairs that it’d be… People think the standards are bad now, just wait.

To all of you out there with decent well paying gigs - cling on for dear life.

robsons of spalding is 6 .59 in the week then time and a half sat and sunday just been for a job no thanks
