In the run up to Christmas is the best time for newbies. The lack of experience seems not to matter so much!
My son had the same problem after he gained his class 2. The best agency he worked for was Pertemps, on the run up to Christmas he was put on DPD and got several months experience, he has since found a cracking number he’s been on for well over two years now.
It’s hard at first, but stick with it, it will come good eventually.

Try Skills for Haulage in Rugby. http://www.skillsforhaulage.co.uk. They teach newly passed drivers the skills needed to do the job, and up-skill existing HGV drivers who want to learn haulage skills in a different transport sector. (I occasionally teach tipper operation, hookloader and skip operation for them).
If it was me I’d always put that type of 6 and 8 wheeler work above what would have been seen as the worse types of class 3 work wherever possible in the search for a class 2 job.Unfortunately the merging of class 3 and class 2 has made that more difficult bearing in mind it was often a case of dad man’s shoes even before that.
Tipper work, theres places out there that will take on new drivers without having to do ■■■■■■ food service/ agency work…

Unless something has changed even tippers usually apply the usual sector specific ‘experience’ bs.While multi lift bulkers are arguably the better option in usually being depot to depot work. The problem being too many drivers looking for too few jobs in that regard while trying to avoid the zb ‘class 3’ distribution sector.
Tipper and skip work is always a good bet for a start.
A lot of firms take on newbies but they tend not to be the best jobs but good for a start.
Don’t know about rugby but Tipper and waste work is absolutely dead at the moment probably the quietest since the 2008 crash.
Best best will be food or shop work or DHL types this time of year

Sita at least seems to have some opportunities for new drivers £11.84 per hour 45 hours per week 04.00 to 14.00.But there’s a big difference between bulker containers v skips,FEL’s or tippers with the latter probably involving more aggravation in the form of individual drops or collections to/from numerous customer premises and depots. While the former is usually more like effectively trunking between council recycling/transfer depots and/or landfill sites and a cushy dead man’s shoes job in my limited experience of it.No surprise that Sita’s advert at least seems to cover driving everything from roro’s to skips to FEL’s and doesn’t seem to allow any specialising in just the ro ro depot to depot work.Which probably explains why they’ll take on new ‘inexperienced’ drivers. If I was looking I’d probably give it a go anyway just based on the hours and money.
Council type jobs are very different to the old days. Got a few mates on veolia and sits mix of doing jobs ehich are usualy on industrial estates etc and bins out of civic amenity sites to recycling centres or a big site where it will be bulked away on artic.
Better than working for small skip firms doing skips on side of the road usually overloaded by builders or people clearing the house out.
The whole tipper/waste game is a good job in respect hours tend to be fairly set an other than early starts you can fit a life round it.
Certainly rather it than 3663 brake bros multi drop food delivery workm

Maybe add to that distance bulk pallet delivery work which is there on rigids and better than distribution type work with artics.I did that on the agency and it was probably one of the best jobs I ever had anywhere in the job.But again is obviously more difficult to get onto because too many others know the score in that regard. In my case that situation predictably ended up in argument with the agency when they took me off it probably to stop others moaning about doing the usual zb jobs they had on their books while I was obviously seen as a naive mug in that regard. The advice in that case being don’t let anyone take advantage of new driver status in accepting zb work v ‘experienced’ more senior drivers.
Well I disagree first driving job I got was the the bins and it was driving with a mate around local towns collecting waste but you had to get out every 5 houses or so collecting rubbish and when there was no work you were a mate. Not for me I personally would prefer the multidrug over that work. Concrete mixer driver not a bad industry to get into if you don’t mind but you can be quiet at this time of the year if the weather turns ■■■■

As I said not to be confused with bulk ro ro container depot to depot container work. That’s a totally different job.
The problem now seeming to be that the employers have got wise to it and mix it with also having to do all the other relative zb jobs.Although there are probably still some bulkers only type operators and jobs out there. As I said in my time getting onto someone like AJ Bull or Drinkwater,or even in my case the council’s own operations which I occasionally did,on refuse bulkers, was always a dead man’s shoes type job.
Just pop along to your local Jewsons they’ll even train you up on a hiab.
Jewsons are always looking for drivers because they want you on every other Saturday.
You mentioned you live on a farm.
How about seeking out some firms connected with agriculture ?
Your neighbouring farmers or the Young Farmers Association might help with local names and addresses.
I’m thinking livestock hauliers, bulk feed merchants, barn & farm building erectors, tractor dealers (new and secondhand), hay and straw hauliers (who would be carrying other loads on the flatbed wagons at other times.)
(Perhaps as a last resort though) - the vacuum tankers that empty the slurry pits and septic tanks.
Good Luck.

More like because of all the aggro and boredom in running around the houses doing local multi drop building materials.Or if it’s anything like similar work I did on the agency maybe also having to do yard labouring for much of the day.

Where abouts are you mateI’m in Rugby, there’s a lot of places with depots around here like Magna Park, Crick , Dirft. But all the vacancies are for class 1. I am willing to travel a fair distance if I’m going to be gaining experience
How about Fairham, just off the a45 before the a46.
Try my place - wrights of twycross. Dont mention internet forums, just say you vaguely know Tom and he told you to try. Number is 01827 880 472.
Its is tipper work but paid by the hour and an absolute piece of wee wee. We deliver bio solid cake to farmers fields. No pressure or stress. I am really happy in what I do anyways.
Give em a try and tell them you are a keen learner - you will get put through your loading shovel and 360 excavator tickets too.

Travis Perkins and Jewson are always advertising round my way.dont think it’s the work as such is the problem mainly the money is so poor.
They are paying 22k a year in London and 3663 are paying 30+ a year as are any half decent skip and tipper firms.
Give the agencies a go, this time of year you wont sit around too long before they’ll call you.
Multidrop and trunking go crazy at this time of the year.
My first couple of years Class 2 I earned more in November/December than I did the previous 4 months.
Marquee rental companys ! its how I got my first chance. thay struggle to get driver so thay dont care a hoot if you got no expirance.
reasons why thay cant get drivers is simple, its minium wage, working round the clock 7 days a week in all weather working dawn till dusk, crap kit and frigging hard graft !! it will test your body the first week is a baptisuim of fire but u wil get acustomed to it.
there will be as much putting up marquees as driving, but there simple to throw up. you will drive all over the country and learn the importance of rachet strapping and loading safely. you can earn great money purley cause the hours are so long if you can hack it. I earn £1,600 after tax in 3 weeks. and u never get time to spend it as your always working.
trouble is I dout thay will need any one till next spring but it would not hurt to knock on any way. it was the hardest graft i have never done but I could walk throw brick walls after only afew weeks on the job and iv never been fitter from it. and it got me the expriance i needed. if there is nothing else its a great way in. and for some reason realy menshioned on here.
