Fresenius - Huthwaite?

Anyone driven for Fresenius from any location?

I can half guess what the job entails, but seeing the same one advertised approx every 3mths worries me.

sounds to me like you just answered your own question

We have a new vacancy for a full time Category C HGV Class 2 driver to join our team.

You will deliver/collect goods as instructed in an efficient and courteous manner to and from designated Clinics and other sites. In the case of a home delivery, the delivery must be made to the room/location of the Patients choice (subject to Drivers Health & Safety Regulations), whilst ensuring that all deliveries are correct.

You will be responsible for ensuring that prior to departure all paperwork is checked for any other instructions e.g. returns notes, keys required or delivery times. For cool chain deliveries ensure correct product is delivered, making final check (address, product, and dose) with customer and put directly into customer’s fridge where possible, before obtaining signature.

When delivering you will be responsible for rotating the stock as appropriate ensuring shortest expiry date is at the front, noting any abnormalities and reporting them back to the Transport Office. Please note that the lifting and transferring of boxes of medical equipment will be your responsibility and is a manual exercise.

You will carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks as designated. Ensure vehicles are maintained to the highest standards. Report any defects immediately and fully comply with EU Drivers hour’s regulations and Construction and Use Regulations.

As part of this role you will be required be away from home for up to two nights per week and will receive additional meal and night allowances for these occasions. There is also a requirement to work Saturdays on a rotational basis, currently one Saturday in four.

Early start times of 3am could be a regular factor as is the requirement to overload your deliveries, often by yourself.

A uniform is provided along with full training to ensure you are confident of your duties.

You should have no more than 3 points on your licence, combined with significant driving experience in multi-drop deliveries with customer contact. Previous home or hospital delivery experience preferred. Familiarity with satellite navigation systems preferred. Also, pharmaceutical knowledge would be an asset.

Well at least you would get 3 mths work.

It sounds like one of those marmite jobs - you will love it or hate it. Certainly not for someone who doesn’t want to get involved with the customers.

I’ve always got on well with folk at drops but that’s usually 'cos I’m bringing them their goodies, I’m wondering if these dialysis patients are a mostly miserable bunch of moaning whingers?

I DO NOT like the idea of (overloading ) loading my own lorry one bit, I’m perhaps reading between the lines here, but I suspect it involves picking the stuff as well.

The more I think about it the more potential problem area’s come to light, perhaps it’s why their new recruits only seem to last a few months?

No mention of wages…

No mention of wages…

Past adverts have mentioned circa £22k!

Which might be salary & which might include night out £money. IME it’s never a good sign if they don’t mention it in the ad.

Job description sounds just like mine. Except I don’t do nights out, load the truck or start before 6am (well, very rarely at any rate). With a few exceptions, I find the dialysis patients to be a cheerful lot. It’s often nice to have a little chat with them while doing the delivery, and the occasional offer of a brew or cold drink is always welcome. From what I’ve seen, Fresenius seem to use mostly 18 tonne (or bigger) trucks, which are simply not manouverable enough for many residential streets - We use mostly 15 tonners.
