Frequently struck 16'3 bridge

On my truck atlas there is a different colour on the bridge heights that are the most frequently struck bridges. Just noticed one on the A58 just west of Halifax that is in the colour that indicates it’s a frequently struck one, but it’s marked as 16’3. How can a 16’3 be frequently struck?

And no smart arse come back saying “it’s if you try and drive under it in something over 16’3”. Even double deck trailers are 16’ aren’t they?

If it’s marked 16’3 but isn’t!
Abnormal loads, plant shifting etc.

Yes they do. Malcolm’s idea of a foot is a child-sized one.

Technically if it’s a loaded flatbed then it’s as high as you dare, are we done with the smartarse replies yet or…?

No it’s not a flatbed. our company are just a bit weird when it comes to unit and trailer size comparisons

I recon there’s a dot missing In the metric height that makes it so tall

That sounds like the one at Sowerby Bridge and it’s an arch bridge. Anything considerably less than 16’ 3" will strike the arch unless you drive a straight line right in the middle of the road and ■■■■■■■■ to anyone coming the other way.

Obviously the roof of the service station a tad too low, I did hear that we’re not allowed under Sedgemoor north services canopy with our DD’s as it’s likely to touch but not tried it yet .
