While using the nationals and dodging the peages,i see the Gendarmes tend to look the other way, while on a weight limit road,i have heard that it is the local mayor that set the ban, maybe his house is on a truck route, typical routes i used to use were to head off at Lons Saunier to take the scenic route to Nantua, via Oyanax, then stay on the national as long as possible through Chambery to the Italian tunnels, there is one village with a 3.5 ton limit, once again,no major drama,or fine.
Italian nationals are a pain in the derriere, not many places to stop for a break, and it is quite likely that the truck will get stuck in a tight bend or low hanging balcony,or other obstruction.I once had to turn around in a farm entrance,if i went on,it was 3.5 ton limit up to a long and steep mountain pass, blocking the road.

Here are some photos showing a worthless piece of lorry driving scum who has been heroically apprehended by those brave upholders of the law regarding Italian weight limits, if I had my way this vermin would be on his way to an appointment with Albert Pierrepoint rather than just handing over some paltry sum of cash.

I run through the limits all the time Toby
I’m so confident of not getting caught I do it with flashing orange beacons and big yellow placards on
