I was chatting to an international driver today who spends weeks at a time on the continent - he’s even off to China soon. He told me that migrants gather on routes into ports (miles away) and the one who draws the short straw stands/lays down in the road in front of lorries hoping they’ll stop so his mates can clamber abroad. The advice French police have given them is not to stop and run them over. The driver I spoke to said he wouldn’t even slow down. I’d love to do European work but I couldn’t deliberately murder someone if I was put in that position, so I won’t be doing any driving abroad.

His haulier does work like that. He did say where they’d go in terms of route, Azerbaijan or Kazakstan or something like that.

Got to love the international boys, they are good with the old stories.
The trouble with drivers who fall for the romance of weeks away in there cabs is, they spend to much time in there cabs with only there tales to entertain. By the time they reach our home shores they’re bursting to furnish us with such knowledge. The days of an English driver running for china are long long gone, the East European invasion put paid to that sort of stuff. In my time on the road in both uk/eu I’ve met drivers who ve escaped an italien jail and running for home, his offence had been 127 kph running down from frejus . one that smashed thru a farmers blockade and lived to tell the tale, one that called ahead to p&o on Xmas Eve and they held the ferry up for him and of course those that were reversed off the herald ! I’ll stick my neck out and say as unpopular as the immagrants are, the French police don’t actively encourage there murder

The other 0.01% thinks dinner but can’t do it on his campingaz stove. Imagine it’s a human , for all the immagrants are they are human, if you’ve met someone that considers it fair game to skittle them over,. Go Hoek Holland - Harwich route - no immigrant issues there, nice clear drive in. Just back from a Berlin hop, lovely crossing, nice boats, good cabins, good food - road from Hoek to Berlin is a good drive - had a good trip with no worrying about doing the Calais run!
