They do say,you get what you pay for,the French tarmac surface is super good, you do not get fatiqued,as it seems the truck floats on the surface,as they buy the good quality stuff.
Is this due to the porous air pockets in the tarmac mix,the noise levels are very low,no shuddering ,or holding on to the cab contents.
What is all that about with giant slabs on the M25 heading towards Heathrow, the part with the hill and a long descent, where you can go over the speed limiter.

I just think they build better roads in France, most of the route nationals are better than British motorways, and they seem to take some pride in keeping the roadsides clear too, the parking areas are generally spotless with decent toilets and picnic tables.
Look at some of the parking areas on our motorways, they are disgusting potholed ruts

I think in France it is only the under used roads that this applies to.
I take it you never used the road to Lille! (I know it has been fixed now but had to be one of the worst roads in Europe outside of Belgium)
or the N10 south of Tours, or the forest road,
I could go on, but I’m sure you get the idea!

Must agree with you, in my personal experience French motorway surface are best tarmac but I dont know if there has some worse surface in some part of France. When I drive on French motorway and I feel like I am on the ship and cruise along the calm sea!
you mention about M25 Redhill - huge climb hill? There are full tarmac cover so no more for yellow concrete slabs. Now nearly all UK motorway network use tarmac instead concrete slab, I prefer concretes slab - much better - less spray during wet day.
In Belgium - their motorway network seem currently out of date - more like untouch since last 1980’s also their hard shoulder are nightmare - complete worn out surface and millions of potholes, I can’t believe they has vignettes system and could not spent on them! Sadly Eastern European motorway seem much better compare to Belgium! Only one thing I like their famous tall lights post and lit across the Belgium country. There are only country in world who do provide full lights lit on motorway from start borders to end of borders!
What about Deutschland? The most darkest country in the Europe - thousands of miles with no lights lit must be tight country! also dislike their motorway exit slip - too short, bendy and narrow like French. I have read some articles from trucks magazines, lots of continental trucks drivers like UK motorway - plenty of long exit slip give them plenty of time to adjust the speed to rejoin motorway and plenty of friendly car user - flashing light to give away compare to Europe - they do growls & flashing light to get out of my way!
the toll roads are great, most of the back roads are pretty good aswell, better than some of our motorways.
holland has some nice roads, though their A roads can be a bit narrow
Belgium roads just ■■■■
Germanys alright i spose, you know hwen your leaving/returning to holland thats for sure
it could be to do with the fact that most motorways in france are peage so the money you pay goes to the company that maintain the road whereas in the UK the roadtax goes to the government to squander on other things like cleaning moats and mortgages for second homes that don’t exist
The UK rip off, only invests a small amount of the road tax revenue on roads, god knows, what they do with the rest of the billions.
Thought the Lille/Mons route has been upgraded, was a minefield, last time i was on it.If you did not have a seat belt on,you would have been thrown out of the cab.
There is an exact science in the subject of resonation,ie the sound of the tyres hitting the tarmac, and how the bods measure it,and choose the correct road surface.
