My Freeview box has failed (after some years of use) & looking to replace it. Can anyone give a positive/negative review on the one that they own?
I do own an inverter as the flat screen tv is 240v.

I have seen alot of trucks with dishes, They are easy to set up, looks like the kit includes a compass and satellite finder so all you do is use the compass to find out which direction the satellite you want is then use the satellite finder to find the best signal. You will have to sort out a suction/magnetic mount or fit it to a extendable pole on the back of the cab.
Setting up a satellite is simple.
First you want to get the pole the dish is on as level as you can. You then need to set your degrees of elevation(it changes with where you are) and point the dish east. Plug your sat finder in and turn the dish clockwise. The sat finder should give an audible tone which goes to a twin, high pitch tone when its spot on the satellite.
If you go past it go back to east and start again,
Make sure you have a clear line of sight, if you dont have this you wont have much of a chance.
You will either get a picture or you wont. You dont get fizzy pictures with satellite.
You need half(or maybe abit more) of signal strength and quality to get a picture.
There are a few ■■■■ channels on there.
If you get Hotbird or Astra 1 you get more ■■■■ channels, most will be foreign if im right with some weird stuff on
Fitting it onto the truck you want either a pole on the back which you can attach it to and push it right up when you need it(getting it above other trucks) or have it on your mirror arm. Problem with that is you might have a truck next to you so pointing it east with a clear sight to the sky might be hard.
Ive not heard good reports about those kits from Aldi, but then some people might just struggle or not use them right. Theres a kit you can buy that we sell at work for £154.99. You dont get the receiver box in there so you would have to buy the Freesat box extra(or if you have sky at home you can just take the sky box from there) but they are about £30-£40 from currys or wherever.
For anyone interested in that its the Maxview 54cm satellite kit.
I sell this stuff to people at work so ive had to learn about it.
Hope this helps you with satellites.
