They used to facinate me, then I worked out why the flys weren’t interested in them 
Yes,see what you mean.never got food poisoning,even in heat of summer in Spain.It was the monks that travelled on the Santiago way,still in use today by Christian followers.The worked the salt would preserve the meat for long walking trips between churches in the medieval times.UK customs banned those hams.Imagine the same hams in the UK.!!!
