At the moment I have a lot of spare time and my mate has asked me to help build him a website. It is actually to promote an international racing event and only needs to be running for about 8 months.
His requirements are that it is free.
That I can either translate it into at least German French and Dutch or use an online translator like Babel Fish.
There is space for promoters logos, links and competitor regs.
There is space to fit a race matrix, basically a spreadsheet with space for about 60 race results.
I have used a couple in the past which have been fairly successful, one from Webeden and another from moonfruit. Has anyone any other experience of them? The Google and Yahoo free sites seems a bit convoluted if you want to venture away from the templates.
I have made a start on paper and got a storyboard idea.

I have been having a look at :-
www.yola.com
- not sure if that’s suitable for you.
In my opinion, the free ones are ok but for the price of a domain name, (.co.uk under a tenner for a year) you will usually get free online web design tools and space and you have the advantage of having a more professional look and address, together with unlimited pop3 email.

I had a look for a free hosting domain name supplier but couldn’t find one - as you say a domain name is not dear .org.uk is only a tenner for 2 years.
I use www.webs.com a free building and hosting site.
To get an idea have a look at my site. Address in signature block

Cheers Mick, that looks a simple idea too, my club was very happy with the Moonfruit one I used and we currently have had over 10000 hits 3 months after the event with even more photos and a German article to add when my tame translator and ADR instructor lets me have the copy back
At present I am working on a site for another rider and may use web.com for that to compare the two.
