Highlander:
Crooklands,J36 M6 usually offer you a coffee.I’ve filled up a time or two at the BP station on the A17 E/bound at Heckington(?) and been given a small nosebag (Mars bar,bag of crisps and a few boiled sweeties)
you mean heckington actualy had fuel too give you, any time i stopped there they didnt have fuel so had to go to the texcaco at the a16 roundabout
hi
i am used to being offered a free coffee everytime i fill up (as long as its over 100ltrs which 99% of the time it would be)
this week in abbington services i decided to grab a coffe on the way before getting to the till
i was asked £2.70 for it.i asked how this could be as i am always offered a free hot drink whenever i fill up.
they explained that it was only the small independant shell stations that do this and the motorway service stations are not actually owned by shell.
politley told them to enjoy the coffee and walked out (wont be back) i fill up every second day at either rosyth or forth road bridge and i am always being told to "grab a hot drink on way out". filled today at the a1 northbound just before scotch corner so i asked the question and polite gentleman replied "of course, help yourself". i will remember these little things and (tell you lot) and guess who which stations will be getting a shate of the £1400 revenue i spend on diesel. for all those that dont have a shell card.try and get one.(points/vouchers are well worth staying loyal and lets be honnest supposing at different times of the month if they are a penny dearer than a another who cares as long as you are gaining)

the rosyth and forth road bridge garage are owned by the same person. they are also good
we run on shell fuel cards, and to be honest,i try only to fill up at the few stations that give you a free coffee.i put £500-£600 in a time,if i go somewhere new,i ask if i can have a free coffee, and if they say no,i take my business to somewhere where they do.very childish, some may say, but, during a long day i really look forward to not having to put the kettle on,and getting a cup of coffee.come on garages, the amount of diesel we put in,is a couple of quids worth of free coffee too much to ask??
ones that do give free coffee i know of are:(shell only)
inchmicheal(if you ask nicely)
auchterader
forth road bridge
whitemare pool(gateshead)
scotch corner
todhills (carlisle).

We have shell cards and stopped at wentbridge North for fuel last week to be told off the frosty faced old cow that I couldnt have my drivers club points as we get discount on the fuel. i wont be going back.
Wheel Nut:
I think we mentioned this subject once before and remember how tearful I became when I was told Granthouse had closed so it was an end to the free Mars bar
Bugger I missed that
I don’t miss the weight I lost, when I stopped running North. Free Mars mars, and Scottish sausage and egg sarnies from the Elephant’s sufficiency at East Linton though

Scotch Corner, White mare Pool & Easington Services on A19 (north & south) are all Shell, owned by the same people & you can get points & a coffee. They are often the cheapest around if you only get pump price or are paying by cash/credit card to!
