Hello All have just found this is bolds ill for transport in the future perhaps IF
it does get passed through and is brought in to play,Maut or road charges on a set
no of National roads and they wish to start with the roads in the ALASCE (ELASS)
region of France , and it seems that they will use the environmental aspect to get it passed
please read the report in the Link HERE

They have been forced into this because the German MAUT is so expensive and so many trucks are using Eastern France and Luxembourg as a long shortcut
I know im goin back a while but in 95 all i ever used was the nationals cause they were less busy and mostly dule track. am i gettin old

I always use the A35 from Mulhouse up to Lauterbourg, then the B9 up to Ludwigshafen rather than crossing into Germany and using the A5.
Apart from saving on the Maut, there are no tedious overtaking restrictions as on the German side.
The bloody Germans have thrown their rattle out of the pram, however, by making the single carriageway section of the B9 from Lauterbourg to Kandel subject to the Maut.
Bit of a blooming liberty, considering it is a narrow road through the woods where it is quite easy to lose a mirror to the cheese eating surrender monkeys hurtling towards you on the limiter

I always come down the B9 when I’ve loaded tractors at John Deere in Mannheim into France but never realised the maut was on that stretch thought they only charged on autobahns

There are a couple of non Autobahn maut sections dotted around Germany, this being one.
It is signed if you look and as the BAG seen to permanently camp out at the border crossing, it’s probably a good little earner

my only defence to them stopping me is when i leave mannheim and cross the river i join the B9 and stay on it all the way to the border so don’t pass any services but they wouldn’t accept that.
first time i went to germany a van overtakes me with flashing lights and pulls into parking but on i cruised
minutes later same van catches up and sits in front with lights flashing and goes into next parking on i cruise
finally police passat pulls in front waving his arm out the window and lights flashing so i follow him into next parking, he shouts at me until i slowly answer in english that i don’t speak german. his mate gets out of car and shouts about not stopping for BAG so i answer “do you mean the blokes in the Phillips van?” to which he cracks up laughing cos they do look like phillips engineers and they don’t say stop on them just flashing lights, got away with a “friendly” warning for not stopping

There’s a cracking Autohof on the B9 at SCHWEGENHEIM where you’ll be able to pick up your Maut.
To be honest, the 1 exit run along the A65 (you have to go onto the Autobahn to avoid the weight limits in Kandel) and the couple of clicks down the B9 to the border shouldn’t be more than an Euro, but not pulling a ticket and running for the border could be considerably more expensive
Especially if you ask them if they can fix your telly
thanks for that one, i’ve put it in my gps
De nada

There are many smaller garages and maut outlets in towns in Germany, not just the Autobahn services and autohofs.
Goods vehicles of 12t or more, whether they be empty or loaded, with the exception of vehicles
transporting material for fairs or circuses, are subject to the German road toll (“LKW-Maut”) which
is levied on all German motorways (approximately 12,000 km) with the exception of the A98
between Laufenburg and Luttingen and between Tiengen-West and Lauchringen. Tolls are also
levied on the following roads: the B75 between the A261 and the A253 (Hamburg); the B4 north of
the A23 to Bad Bramstedt (Schleswig-Holstein); the B9 between the German-French border and
the A65 (Rheinland-Pfalz).
