Four in line

In the photo I`m following a Southampton Road Transport Four in line on the M4 in the late 60s .
Reminds how unstable these Trailers could be and changing inner wheels a nightmare but you could drive over a pavement with one wheel and there was very little movement to the trailer .
Memories were duff brakes and when I got pulled by the ministry just past Scunthorpe with a load of AC airfilters for Immingham Dock I got issued with an instant GV9 for my trouble .
one leaking diaphram and worn out or missing clevis pins .
they were air operated rod brakes .
I spent the rest of the day in Pandoras Box Cafe in Skunny , ( remember them near the steelworks ? ).

I remember a mate of mine turning one over on the heads of the valley rd[think it was the a465] in the 70s.He was loaded two high with bakalite batt casings, the height of the load was 14-6.The accident happened nr myrthr tydfil
and the police said he did a good job cause he managed to turn the whole lot over onto the grass verge and not block the road,he still got done though. They were very unstable.
