Dennis. Bradys also had another 680 leyland unit HEO977.But these two did not have two gear sticks MEO 4 did and a couple of others did. FRANK
Thanks for that Frank,Iv’e just checked the list that Chris Swin gave me,HEO977 6/4/62 until31/8/72,and MEO 4 1/7/64 until 31/8/72,the list dosen’t say what engines or g/boxes the motors had and I always believed that HEO678 was the only 680,Possy used to crack on it being the best Beaver on the fleet ! Anyhow, thanks for keeping things straight !! I’ll be getting a snotty letter of the Big’un next !! Cheers Dennis.
Is that the best you can come up with dennis ?
I have to say that was weak , infact very weak .
I’m well aware you worked in bury / radcliffe infact we almost met once but you’ll not remember , i was infact doing a trailer swap and stood by the side of my truck talking to a chap and having a smoke , you walked past us and the chap i was stood with told me who you were . do’es rectory lane ring any bells ?
I dont now nor will i ever need the help of any MODS i’m perfectly capable of dealing with it myself .
Can i just point out that other people have interests on these here forum and wish to read the things people post ,and im including stuff you post in that , but alot of time its spolied with the constant sniping / digging you seem to enjoy so much .
Not much point in keep repeating the classic " if you dont like it dont read it " its a public forum and that is what its for . The other favorite is " Its just banter " its not coming across that way .
If you wish to carry this on then im fine with that but i wont just accept constant crap that spoils what should be an interesting subject .
Oh and before anyone goes into " you dont have a sense of humour " routine that couldnt be further from the truth .
Over to you dennis or are you just going to ignore it ?
Hiya “bowser”,your opinion of my response to your comments does not bother me in the least, feel free to fire away if you must ! However, I can’t say I recall your recollection of my walking past you in Rectory Lane as it was a long while ago, sorry.Cheers Dennis.

Hiya “H”,well seeing I haven’t the faintest idea where Rectory lane is it probably wasn’t me “in the frame”,but anything for a quiet life so I’ll plead guilty to the offence I obviously caused by having the affrontry to have been passing through a “prohibited” area, well to ■■■■■■■■■ at least !! Cheers Dennis.
Dennis are you saying you dont know where Rectory lane is ?
Haven’t got the foggiest “bowser” but no doubt you’ll take enormous delight in telling me,I’ll hold my breath shall I ? Cheers Dennis.
Well seeing as you offered to hold your breath i was going to wait 15 mins or so but best not ehh …
eastlancs papermill .
They must have been “dodgy” Vicars to have put up with living next to East Lancs Mill, were you a regular in that “den of thieves and retrobates” The Papermakers Arms ? Cheers Dennis.
No and to be honest i dont recall going in more than a couple of times .
I worked for Davidsons waste paper in bolton but got transfered to salford due to an agency driver having a load of cardboard off in haydock so local papermills to bolton would have been off my job by then .

Anyhow “bowser” you’ve just shot yourself in the foot by freely admitting that you were stood in Rectory lane next to a load of waste paper “having a smoke”,waiting to tip. So over to you ! no doubt you will have me believe that it is/was acceptable practice to stand next to a load of highly combustable materiel with a lighted cigerette ? Bloody priceless I call it my son !! Cheers Dennis.
Are you deaf dennis ?
Rectory lane is the outside of the mill not inside ffs , do try and pay attention , and i do believe i said i was stood by the side of the truck doing a trailer swap … ffs i cant even remember if i was under the empty one or the loaded one its a squillion yrs ago .
Well “bowser” seeing as you’ve disclosed that you were employed at the ■■■■ end of the Paper industry I am at liberty to give you my opinion which I hope will have you bouncing again!!! As I have accumulated around 40 years within the industry firstly working,in my teens,at probably the finest Mill in the UK,James Cropper PLC and working on the actual Paper making machines and then for nearly 30 years building up a fleet to about 100 units that sourced around 85% of the traffic from throughout the Paper industry from the movement of high class product right through the spectrum finally decending into the equivalent of the “sewer”,carrying loads of waste paper from some of the “dodgiest” outfits around the UK.So I reckon I will know as much about the “job” as,no doubt, you do.IMHO the Waste Paper trade was mainly populated by “duckers and divers” who would stoop to any lengths to stuff rubbish into the various mills,J.Bibby PLC who owned 4 of the Mills we ran out of even bought their own Merchant ( Walkers) in an effort to secure a decent supply of re-cycled material ! IIRC we did however haul for couple of genuine merchants over the years,Brian Perry from Glastonbury and another firm from Welwyn Garden, the name just escapes me but we ran their loads into Shotton Mill on a regular basis and they were ACE to work for. What used to really ■■■■ me off was when one of the Mills located a new “honest as the day is long” Merchant, the first 2 or three loads were spot on Grade 1 & 2 say, then bang in goes the 3rd or 4th bulked up and contaminated with low grade rubbish and was ,quite rightly, rejected. But this was not the end of the matter,we then had to badger the “merchant” where are we to deliver this load of ■■■■ now, this could take days plus they didn’t want to pay demurrage nor did they like paying any kind of haulage rate no-matter how cheap it was, just to get shot of the poxy load off the trailer.Yes “bowser” what a bloody shower the majority of Waste Paper merchants really were in the days I was involved !!PS,I guess Davidsons were one of the better ones as they were part of the British Plaster Board Group, but I’ll wager that you were party to a few “fast moves” being a driver at the “sharp end” so to speak ! I bet you could hardly keep your face straight when a Mill was getting “one put over on them” eh! Cheers Dennis.
I and you had to have a waste carriers licence to transport the crap too , never understood that as it
was a product from
waste not waste in its own right, or is it just me.

Hiya Brian, that was always my contention,it was recyclable material for further production and was not Waste in the true sense ( well what “bowser” carried may well have been Waste!)of the word. But apparently because the description of the product contained the word Waste(from years gone by) you therefore had to have a waste carriers licence, what a load of bollox !! Whoever heard of a load of paper for recycling contaminating anyone or anything,“Jobs for the Boys” as far as we were concerned ! Cheers Bewick.
Here you are “bowser” Iv’e dug this shot out for you to take a copy of and stick on your dart board !! But don’t hit the curtains theres a good man,we only carried finished products in these tuatliners, not waste paper !!! Cheers Dennis. PS,yea I know I’m the ugly ■■■■■
Dennis old chap , you’ve just dragged a distant memory back .
I do remember tipping several times at Shotten and having to reload because it was refused , telephone directorys as i remember . They had a shocker of an automated tipping system where you booked yourself in and a huge tipping hall , would that have been the same with your chaps ?
Taking it all back to salford/bolton never went down well .
