Fosseway

Hiya

I’m off down to Swindon from the Midlands tomorrow and was intending on taking the Fosseway. Considering the floods we’ve had recently in the area and most websites won’t tell me if roads are closed for flooding, has anyone driven it in the last 48 hours or can give links for it being closed or open, or can tell me?

A429: Wellesborne, Ettington, Halford, Darlingscott, Stretton on Fosse, Moreton in Marsh, Stow Bridge.

That’s about to Stow on the Wold and all those areas are marked ‘at risk’ and ‘actual’ for flooding from surface water.

After that the next heavily flooded area is Cricklade, but not close enough to the dual carriageway. So considering what I’ve said above and the information from the Environment Agency, is it worth going down via the M40/A34/A420 vs the A46/A429 etc?

river levels can be checked on the EA website - environment-agency.gov.uk/ho … 36492.aspx - just had a quick look and at stow the level is quite low but you might want to check out other stations along your route.

Yeah, I’ve spent a bit of time on the EA website and I think I’ll give it a go tomorrow. If I don’t manage parts of it I’ll have my map with me anyway to find ways to divert

Thanks :sunglasses:

I’m up and down fosse most nights! It doesn’t flood

Thanks for the update
