Forum newb want to drive class 1

NEW AND WANNABE DRIVERS (INTERACTIVE)

Hi recently past my class 1 thought id say hi. Currently driving a rigid suction tanker for a well know construction/highways company.

Ive registered with afew agencies with interest of weekend only work, also waded through the flood of online vacancies but struggling to find what im after.

Im used to 6/7 days pw and overtime is thin as it gets due to me suffering from a long term back issue. Ive now accepted this but could do with the cash on a casual basis and get a feel for being a “proper” class 1 driver as i really enjoyed driving the rig leading up to my test.

I live in the centre of manchester (northside) and i know there are loads of huge distribution places not far. Whats the best route to take to get my foot in the door anyone?

It was the most nerve racking thing I have ever done. 6 minors and TWO shunts as i completely bottled it. Pass 1st time though

Should be able to walk into a place you like the look of and get an interview. “Drivers wanted” signs are cropping up all over the place. Not saying it’ll happen but just recently it’s got a whole lot better.
