Forth Bridge. [Merged]

Going to Rosyth tomorrow for a delivery early Wednesday morning. Was thinking about parking at the Forth Bridge Services are they still there, not been up that way for years.

last time I was up there you could still park but no services. theres a Tesco I think at the top of the road though and a pub the other side of the duel carriageway

Thanks mate I hope to get that far but 2 drops Nottingham first so may be pushing it.

What’s made me ask is I looked on google earth & it looks flattened & they say construction of the new Forth Bridge as started so I was wondering if it was still there.

You can’t park there now mate, been like that for a while now as they are doing some building work on it. Used to be a deacent place to stop for sweet fa too

as far as I know the new bridge is going to the west of the old bridge so shouldn’t be building work where the old services are. just had a look on google and that is how it was last time I stayed there nice and quite but there was quite a few wagons in by late evening

I take what I said back. sorry

They’re building the new forth bridge headquarters on it I think so god knows what they are doing with the building they have got there now!

the forth bridge lorry park has closed, if you go through rosyth past the shell garage, go over the r/about at the next r/about turn left and go past IDS timber, you should be ok to park there.

Thanks for your replies SO plan B in operation trouble is I ain’t got a plan B. Stayed at those services years ago & walked into South Queensferry for a Fish supper that’s when I had a 10tonner before that I had a 7.5tonner {Late '70’s} & we used to stop at a Guest house at South Queensferry & parked on the little car park between the 2 bridges. Tomorrow its only a 7.5tonner so may try that. Knowing my luck it will be Carlisle or Penrith I get too.

i have seen wagons parked in the tesco car park at south queensferry
newbridge industrial estate
harthill services
bellshill industrial estate

not too sure where i would park if i didnt get that far. annandale water services probably (M74 j16/johnstonebridge)

cant you get to Bellshill? the indusrial estate where Morrisons RDC is is always busy with trucks and the pub at the top of the hill does good food. you used to be able to park in Aldi car park in town near Tescos but they put a stop to it,however if you are there early enough you can park on the side street at the side of Aldi and there’s a chippy plenty of takeaways and a couple of pubs along with Tescos just a couple of mins walk away.

What’s messing thing’s about is I can’t load in Corby until 8am THEN I have 2 drop’s Nottingham area AFTER that go to Leicester to load for Rosyth so its going to be dinner time or after when I start heading North again. So really no idea where I’d be its just that I would like to be that far up. Not stopping at Carlisle made that mistake earlier this year.

Lockerbie is sound apart from being right next to the West Coast Mainline! :unamused: good grub and bar not that bad price either,or you can go onto the A75 heading towardss Dumfries and come off the next left turn off and go back on yourself and park in the greyhound stadium good food, nice bar and if ya lucky a bit of greyhound racing to watch

Traffic scotland stole that lorry park for their new poofy headquaters and the pricks never replaced it!!

The services is still there tho, just drive in the services and drive out then reveres down that road where the entrance used to be and park there, if the tossers haven’t put down doubles aswell that is!!

Gretna is a good bet if you can’t get too far, always quiet and the lamb shank is better than edible, Abington is small & tight no tv signal :frowning: , Annandale is okay but take your hiking boots  , Hamilton is usually okay for space for late arrivals but there’s no cafe (safer not to bother anyhow) or facilities after 7pm iirc, you have to pay for parking at the hotel. As for Hartshill, Heart o’ Scotland (yeah right, more like armpit o’ uk) I’ve never been brave enough to stop, I thought I was at the Midlothian Tip and carried on.

The lamb shanks sounds nice at Gretna. Gave up many years ago about having a TV with me because I got so fed up with waking up & turning the z/b off!!!. Thanks again everybody for your help.

Can you not park on the waters edge down in south queensferry, been a few years since i parked there. Was a bit tight after turning right as the road narrows through the high street but once through loads of parking on left, couple of good bars and good chippy for a nice fish supper!
