Fort william

Got a run upto Fort William tonight will be leaving Nottingham at 20.00. Any advice on route and where to park up for 9 off.I was going to go up the a9 past pitlocry then cut across but not been up this way for years. Cant imagine there will be any drivng time left by the time i get up there. Will be 44t

When you get to Stirling, take the A84 up thru Callander, A85 thru Crianlarich onto the A82 up to F/William. The A9 over Laggan is a long way for a short cut!

Remember once you leave the Mway at Stirling its S.C. all the way to Fort William. The Pitlochry route is a great deal longer.

This is the best route.

But if you want on the way back turn right at Crianlarich taking the A82 along loch lomond. Takes the same time, wee bit tight in places but different and varied scenery for you.

Thanks for the help gents. Is there any where to park up

Did this the other day on the way back from Kinlochleven. Remember that there is a 14"6’ bridge just as you turn right in Crianlarich. The O/P says the road north of Pitlochry,I presume you mean the Dalwhinny road? That is a ■■■■■■ cart track-would avoid like the plague.

I done a trip to Ft William from Inverness and went the Laggan road running along the Loch past the Dam in the snow and was ■■■■■■■■ it but it’s a really nice drive as most drives are up that way. Was a bit tight in places (car cant pass going other way tight)

Think you can still park nr the leisure centre ?

there is the big truck and bus park behind morrisons next to the railway station in fort william .

and you can get a shower in the train station for £3 or in the sports centre for £2 and you get a towel as well.

Its here: Google Maps

When you see Morrisons, keep it on your right all the time and you’ll see the coach park signs.

in a couple of weeks i shall be parking the faithful old wobble box in there while we do the shopping , keep your’e elbows in !

ive loaded out of a timber yard just out side fort william a few times.first time i asked a local driver if it was possibleto run down loch lomond way he told me just to follow the signs for stirling and not to head that route as u come to a low brigde and u have to back up 5 mile to turn round.i know one of lads did run up that way once empty and passed a car transporter going the other way with just inches to spare.
the run from fort william is about 3 hours when load at about 25/26 ton.but is a nice run and a change from motorway scenery
