Forklift accident at Novelis Recycling, Warrington

I hope the worker has since made a full recovery. However, have to say, I’m not particularly surprised an accident occurred at this co.

I delivered here once some years ago whilst doing some agency work for Woodsides, Preston. The work was fine.

I hadn’t been into Novelis before and was unsure just where the guy wanted my trailer to be. He said he would show me & watched me back, BUT he kept standing behind the trailer out of sight. Every time he did that, I stopped & wouldn’t move until he reappeared. In the end I had to get out & walk back and try to explain to him why I kept stopping.

He wasn’t having any of it: “Other drivers don’t do that” etc. etc and he got quite narky about it.

Yeah, with reversing standard procedure is if you can’t see your banksman stop and wait, and if he doesn’t appear go and find him/them. Sometimes explanations are in order. You could mention that if he stops out of sight he can be run over and you wouldn’t be any the wiser with his antics…

E.A.T I am lost as to the intended meaning of your cynicism. Do you have any constructive input to the topic?
