Fork truck accident

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: and thats that, life ended. The two blokes look sick, especially the driver  Puts it in to perspective how easily it can go horribly wrong.

billybigrig:
But he had his Hi vis on :grimacing:

yes he did. but how many drivers on here wear hi-vis vests that are too grotty and dirty to see.

Health and safety should bring in robotic drivers next

RIP to the driver, stupid staff just stand like chocolate teapots, maybe he wasn’t dead but they sure as hell didnt help the situation

He was dead mate a 13tonne forklift just went over his head

Im not convinced that’s real.

tell you what, I wish you was right, but somehow I think it is real, it made me feel quite ill to be honest,

Human bodies vs metal and machines will lose and if survivable then it will [zb] hurt!!!

Yeah, that’s the one, gave me the heebeegeebees for a while after watching. The guy should be reversing everywhere in that apart from when hes right next to the trailer putting the bale on or even better finding another way of loading the bales with a crane or something.

The guys probly been told to stay in his cab but you can see he’s wandering around in a world of his own. Amazed he didn’t hear the forklift coming though but was probably knocking on a bit with duff hearing maybe.

I think the point is if the poor sod had a flashing light on his head it wouldn’t have made any difference.

The driver looks like he thought he was safe too walk across,he just watched the flt go away so would not expect to be loaded by 2 flt,how often do you get 2…what a sad loss…

That’s grim. Where I work I’m 1 of 3 flt drivers and I can b unloading pallets of soft drinks or pallets of chips both of which obscure your view so reversing is essential. But the thing is where I work is an accident waiting to happen its a big open yard but there aren’t any specific walkways marked out or no compulsory ppe etc. staff just walk where ever and whenever they like so I’m constantly on alert.

Gruesome! I’m amazed it was even allowed to be posted at all, censors etc?? :open_mouth:

But after all that, who will be to blame in the end?? Fork driver - truck driver - Company??

What will happen now, except for the proverbial hitting the fan??..

bloody hell.
1 minute everything is fine, the next, game over.
as someone else said, makes you think that reversing the flt would be better maybe.

Sorry if this post has offended anyone, no offence meant, I for one go to all the steelworks and numerous company’s, where you have to stand in Driver Safety Zones, and I hold my hands up and say I’ve often thought what a waste of time, but I won’t no more…

I would be far happier if on drops I could drive the forklift. Far too many flt operators need supervising so staying put in the cab isn’t an option especially where there’s a weight distribution issue.

On those 10 ton forklifts, in the vid, visibility is still pretty terrible in reverse could easily still flatten someone then.

I’m off to Gadbrook in a minute, I’m not gonna moan today when they insist I stay in my cab. When they unload I have to keep jumping out to move the curtains or supports , as I get out the cab they turn the FLT off untill I get back in.

He should have been reversing round the corner cause he couldn’t see over that pulp guess hard hats don’t save your life and hi viz

Defo should have been reversing…

I agree. But what was the driver thinking for christ’s sake? Duff hearing or not,you know something is gonna come round the corner.
That is shocking.

Worth letting the link stay I think, if it educates even one person to the danger involved it may save a life or a limb.

Still not convinced this is genuine. The blood puddle looks far too big. I’ve been trying to sort of re-enact it with roadkill in my truck. I think it’s one of those unofficial safety videos put online to promote flt awareness.
