Forgetting too close your rear door

The-Snowman:
You didnt happen to do this in a banana place (cant remember the name) about a month ago did you?

I wonder if nightline will show his face in this thread? He was slightly…ahem “animated”…in the other one

No ,last bananas I picked up were from mmd ( think that was the name ) Portsmouth ,then were taken off me at chievely as I ran out of hours ,fine when I dropped tri

Radar19:
I’ve got barn doors so its really obvious that I’ve left them open.

Yep you can see doors ,stays on barn doors

dcgpx:
Don’t have much use for mirrors then Dozy, even with crap ones you’d see doors open

Yes I do use my mirrors and you can’t see if all doors are open on every tri I pull

Not all have doors that you can see. He must have had the roller shutter on the trailer you can’t tell without looking round the back. All our trailers are barn doors so no worries there.

Yep not all trailers have doors that you can tell from cab if there open or not ( maybe a warning like parking brake not applied wouldn’t be a bad idea :exclamation: :exclamation: ) ,I’ve a mixture ,barn doors ,roller shutter doors

steelgoon:
He has got to be making these threads up for effect.

No one is that incompetent and still employed, but it’s the Agency drivers that get the grief on here :open_mouth:

One of our drivers was given a mark on his file for going down a 7.5 t limit ,asked why he didn’t seem at all bothered about ,why should I be bothered about 1 ,------ ------ has about 50 and he’s still employed .

PaulNowak:
Did it loads of times when I was multidropping on puddle jumpers. If I’d got a few boxes or something heavy to deliver, I’d wander off and do it with every intention of closing it on my return, but once in a while I’d just dive in the cab and crack on. Never lost anything, although my sack truck did fall off at a drop, the second I pulled up, despite having driven 26 miles to it.

Never done it with barn doors though.

No I’ve never done it with barn doors and it wouldnt of fallen out as strapped ,not so sure the tempature was what it should of been though

mike68:
Wrecked dot com vans, no tacho inserted, doors left open.

I’m wondering what next, perhaps the screen wash filled with engine oil? driving 200 miles to a drop with an empty trailer? this could run you’re employer has a good sense of humour.

1 no never hit a dot com van ,it’s normally them being parked in my designated turning area causing me to hit building ,gate, wall, fence etc
2 yes drove without card in ,forgot and pulled it out to get home ,not that you’d under stand that doing 1 drop ,6 hrs a day for tesco .
3 never left doors open ,only one roller shutter or on tris I sometimes use
4 I leave the filling of fluids to the drivers who like to hang around trying to find something to do to get in extrac15/30 mins a shift ( unless it’s a warning of low oil / water ) ,I just want to get out yard asap ,decamp and go home .
5. I often run empty ,what else do you want me to do when the store tell you there’s no rsu to collect ,and t.o tell you to come straight back ,go rummaging through the local bins to get some rubbish to haul back :unamused:
My best.
though was 180 miles up to Kendal empty to pick up a load ,loader was  As apparently there was nothing to collect ,after he talked to the t.o they agreed and told me to run 180 miles back empty ,as did my mate who was 5 mins behind me ,720 miles empty between us in a day :exclamation: :exclamation: I askedvthem if there was anything to collect on way back ,NO straight back ,all the drivers fault :exclamation: :exclamation: .
I was told recently told to haul a empty fridge 50 miles up the road ,drop it in yard ,go out and do drops ,come back and haul the same tri back 50 miles empty ,apparently I’m not allowed to be seen running around without a tri on ,you’d think they’d sack me for that
I recently took a d/d up to teesport empty to pick up a load ,what was I thinking :unamused:

No I make mistakes ,I’m human ,I could blame it on being tired ,long hours ,but not the case , I tipped at 2 nd drop ,found cage from 1 St drop ( even though they’d checked 12 off ( due 12 ) so in my haste to get back there ,back to yard and home as fast as I could ,I half shut door on bay ( can’t shut door fully ) ,shot off and the rest is history .
Maybe it’s time though I did what 99% of drivers do on here ,claim there perfect ,makes you wonder what there doing driving trucks for a living though doesn’t it :exclamation: :exclamation: :unamused:

Dozy, get a small padlock and attach the keys to your truck key. That why you’ll know if you’ve left your doors/shutters open because the padlock will be still on your truck keys.

Thanks radar ,but I just put a note on dash to remind me to close them now

Just out of interest, how many notes are on your dashboard?

I’ve just made one up out of cardboard ,tri numbers ,fleet numbers ,mileage ,exit numbers I scribble on my hand

Had such a crap run up to Atherstone today, what with the M1 closure, that when I finally got there I reversed onto the bay (absolutely perfectly) jumped out…

DOH…

I’d forgotten to open the bloody doors.

Thank fork nobody was about to see!

Where did you run up from? I’ve done Redditch and Nuneaton today, M40 was absolutely fine.

And I remembered to open my doors

I religiously use the A40 & M40 as a rule, even told another one of our guys at the same collection point to go that way. But I was running late due to an issue with my collection. And I’ve noticed that as soon as I get on the A40 satnav, bangs on 15 mins. Then it bangs on 15 more when I pass the M25. Like I say, I was pushed for time, it was early, and the North Circ was clear as a bell.

I had already gone past the Watford (M25 West) junction before the closure came up on the matrix signs and the radio.

Sodding typical. Me trying to be a clever bollox. I’ve never EVER even thought about using the M1 before today, and I won’t be attempting it again.

Sorry, was coming out of Park Royal

■■■■ luck, I generally head up that way from either Dover or our yard in Thanet and usually go up the M1, it’s only with Redditch being that little bit further west than my usual haunts that I used the M40 this week, that and I like a change of scenery!
Next time the dice will land differently and some poor bugger will do something to shut the m40 instead. Of course if you get an easy journey you’ll have to find another excuse for leaving your doors shut!

I see that alot at work; driver walks into the warehouse to hang up keys next to shutter door, before I lift dock bay shutter door I always say “go on then, give me a clue…”
If they say “a clue about what?” I lift door and show them. Usually a couple of warehouse lads will then start to sing the Muppets theme. Drivers don’t often forget when visiting my depot.
Or the other one is a W&D driver will bring his keys in, open warehouse door and his rear door, hang up keys and either go back to his cab or to the crew room. We’ll tip drag and then be faced with the drag’s front door still locked… So after I’ve opened the two middle doors and vehicle’s been tipped and reloaded, I make that driver come and fetch his keys, although I take the other drivers their keys. When said offending driver complains, I just smile sweetly and explain that I’ve already walked to his vehicle that night beause he was too lazy to unlock his middle doors…
I’ll help any driver as long as you help me…
