Foreign workers paid 20% less

I’ve never heard this before but I was just reading about sunak & Starmer going at it about immigration ( stick in labour & have a read , I’m no good with links ) , now stammer is saying there’s a Tory rule where employers can pay foreign workers 20% less than the equivalent uk worker as long as they want , it explains why bosses are so desperate to get foreign workers , apparently there’s a fund for training uk workers ( apprentiships etc ) but it’s hardly ever claimed
I’d be dubious it was true if it wasn’t said in the House of Commons , at the despatch box , I’m no fan of Starmer but he’d never say it if it wasn’t true , so I’d say it is & explains why there’s this clamour for foreign workers
Makes you wonder what else there keeping from us

Tories want cheap labour - always have done.

It’s not just Tories wanting cheap labour you know. All employers want cheaper labour. The Chinese employ cheap labour but I can’t imagine them voting for Sunak somehow.

Not all employers - some know basic economics that if you have a low wage economy for long enough nobody can afford to buy goods so your manufacturing and productivity crashes. Thats why Henry Ford paid great money to his workers - so more bought his cars.

Any more great employers? Or are you still living in fantasy world? I’d love to be as innocent and naive as you. The world must be all cuddly and fluffy to you.

Eh?

I’m sorry, was that a bit beyond you?

Not all employers are saints. Nor are they all demons.

No, i explained what a low wage econpmy is and you said do I think the world is fluffy? The world is mostly rock and lava.

And in the coming Socialist ‘utopia’ all working class people are going to be earning good money you reckon, dream on.

No , they’re not. Unfortunately you and that other nuckfugget are that blinded by your hatred of Tories that you simply can’t envisage that your beloved left winger cuddly party may not be as pure and honest as your utopian fantasy imagines.

No thats what you reckon. Im telling you why the tories have introduced this cheap labour policy.

I’ve never heard this before either…

but whilst reading about it get to the part

Sunak is grappling with how to fulfil the Tory party’s 2019 manifesto pledge to cut overall immigration. This week he announced that the government would restrict foreign students, apart from those studying PhDs, from bringing in dependants…

so if their smart, they can bring their family, if their dumb no family allowed    however can someone explain his logic ? cos a little confused, know the main difference between studying for a PhD and pursuing a regular academic degree is the level of specialization, is it just alot less PhD students like 1% ?, as looking it states

The UK’s welfare system has specific rules and requirements regarding who can access benefits. Non-EEA international students are typically subject to immigration regulations that restrict access to public funds, which includes most welfare benefits

. so not sponge’n contributing… which dont mind…

or usual distration :unamused: , as its the little boat surfing illegals most are concerned about, and this will have zero impact, just reduce students, therefore less income from abroad, as they pay fees, and rent, buy food, use the bars… so will hinder not help the economy ■■? though he was a money man, guess just a usual vote catcher using anything to look good… I STOPPED IMIGRATION NUMBERS RISING  whilst reducing income from abroad… but shhhhh I REDUCED IMIGRATION NUMBERS…

Well it helps the economy in one sense as they are paying fees - but they are also taking up housing, using roads, using NHS etc so its not all great news just cos the University owners make good money.
