Foreign HGV driver arrested for Drink Driving on M25

4 times over the limit is like 12 pints in you FFS. Now I freely accept they need to get leathered when they’re parked up for 12+ but really…

DP.

The British media are very fixated on Brits and their alcohol intake. We are often made out to be the p*ssheads of Europe. We always hear stories about how our mediteranean friends never get drunk and drink moderately and sensibly. Yet there are so many other countries in Europe where people over-abuse alcohol (not that we are ever told about them) Apparently, according to the statistics, Finland has more alcoholics than anywhere else in Europe. And Denmark has a problem with teenage girl drunkeness. Not to mention the alcohol abuse in the eastern block european countries. The French have a much higher rate of liver disease than the Brits - yet we are rarely told about this.

Why is the British media always telling us how bad our own people are. Or how terrible our own country is? Could it be that they are trying to destroy the “feel-good-factor” of being British? (or being English, a word gradually disappearing from application forms and documents). Oh well, at least the truck driver in this news story wasn’t an Englishman! Four times over the limit is quite something.

I’ve just watched an episode of motorway cops where they pulled a trucker for being on the phone, turned out he was 2 1/2 times over the limit at 4:30 pm! Open, half empty can of special brew in the cup holder & 9 fresh cans on the bunk. I know we don’t all do it but it only takes one.
The British media is a whole new topic.

If it wasnt for the fact I had to take avoiding action as he decided he wanted to try and force me out of my lane and nearly colliding with a vehicle in lane 3. It came very close.

To me you shouldn’t have to justify your actions to anyone on here, drink drivers are a real threat to life on the roads. The thing is its always someone else that pays the price for their selfish actions. If you cannot do your job without taking drink then you have a serious problem. If it was up to me the limit would be zero, having any limit above that only encourages people to have a drink, then 1 more because"I can take it, I do it all the time"

Yes they are, there is evidence & they have a valid reason to. I once read somewhere that British people don’t know how to drink, eat, speak/behave, make love etc compared to the rest of Europe & I think it’s true, hence all the bs…:exclamation::!::!:

I wonder where you read that mate. If we Brits are really that bad, it’s funny why so many people across the world choose Britain as the country of their choice to re-locate to. They must like something about us

Do you think drink driving is ok? Maybe you should meet some families who’s lives have been destroyed by drink drivers.

As you’ve gathered I am a bit…‘different’ let’s just say:lol:
I’ve travelled a bit & lived in different less developed countries during my up bringing, maybe that’s why things like this seem petty to me. Yes drink driving is unacceptable & can destroy lives but so can driving tired, adverse weather, poor/lack of skill/judgement l, defects & bad/overloads, ill health etc, why aren’t all those frowned upon…■■? British attitude hey…smh

There’s a big difference between being a bit over the limit & being 4 times over the limit, this guy very likely would have killed someone if he hadn’t been stopped, I couldn’t drive at 4 times over the limit, how you think that this is acceptable & the guy that shopped him to the cops is wrong is truly unbelievable.

Driving down a country road in Uzbekistan leathered is quite far removed from piloting an artic round the m25 leathered.

edited my info was incorrect, estimated legal limit is around 3 units, not 1 for a Male.

Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m not condoning drink driving or anything.

BUT, you do realise 4x the limit is less than 6 pints now don’t you? 1 can of Stella is 2.6 units, the legal limit is 3 unit, so 2 cans of Stella and you’re over the limit.
Are you seriously saying that you couldn’t drive (not wouldn’t, but couldn’t) after 3 stella’s??
Say you’re at home, you’ve just had your tea and 3 cans of beer, and you get a phone call that something serious is going on, your daughters boyfriend has hit her so she’s locked him out and he’s trying to break the door down or whatever, are you really saying you’d be UNABLE to drive?

Now, I’m glad he’s been done, seen a hell of a lot of bad driving and tailgaiting by HGV’s just lately (never felt the need to report anything though tbh) and have even done it myself, not planned, but pulled into middle lane to pass someone and someone either pulls in front of you or slows down in front of you, rather than hit the brakes (you can see over cars, so know if you need to hit the brakes) I just kill the cruise, maybe a bit of exhaust brake, and wait for gap to return, but for a period I’d be tailgaiting.
Sounds like his driving was erratic and aggressive though tbh and possibly needed dealing with, so maybe it’s time for police on the streets instead of camera’s again??

12 pints? 12 units you mean, there’s not many (if any) drink that’s only 1 unit per pint, shandy maybe? Are you southern? :grimacing:

Its common knowledge, Google it, mirror, telegraph & various documentaries have covered these topics over & over. Britain is always in the top 5 league for things like obesity, smoking, teen pregnancies, anti social behaviour etc, oh & the weather is crap too:!:. People choose to migrate here for 1 reason mainly & it’s money/economics/benefits (whatever you want to call it), It certainly isn’t for the gourmet fish & chips or the rowdy behavior exhibited after you’ve had one too many down the pub!!

Good day all well its friday the 13th keep yourhead down,
Anyway my storie is this week here in Austria earlyer in the week the cops pulled a truck over because it was running over the middle of the road and they had hadd a lot of calls from other drivers when they stoped the truck the driver was so drunk he could not talk he had drunk a 1ltr bottle of vodka the empty was still in the cab he got a ban on the spot truck inpounded because it was not fit for the road.they would not say from were he was from just eastern eruope

Ok I have sympathy if you have 2 or 3 pints & get caught but not 6 or 12

As to the question of could I drive on 6 pints, I probably could but I don’t think that’s particularly relevant as I wouldn’t want to & I wouldn’t. Would I drive on 2 pints, yes.

This isn’t about being marginally over the limit in your car on a 2 mile journey home from the pub it’s about being ■■■■■■ at the wheel of a truck!

I don’t care how “hard” anyone thinks they are driving after more than 3 pints is nuts (unless your daughter is getting knocked about by her boyfriend, then you get a free pass).

I am southern & I do drink shandy occasionally.

LHD motor with foreign plates.

'Cause they are only ever driven by dirty foreigners aren’t they, never british drivers. :unamused:

What i can’t get my head round with the drink drive sentencing is:
Isn’t a driver that is say twice the legal limit more guilty than one that is four or five times the limit?
Confused■■?
The driver that is ■■■■■■ out of his head wouldn’t think rationaly, He wouldn’t make decissions that a sober person would, So he would have diminished responsibility, Just like someone with a mental illness.
Someone that has drank say four pints will know he’s over the limit, He will know he shouldn’t be driving, So shouldn’t he be dealt with more harshly?

I think drink drivers shouldn’t be disqualified, It’s no good for the ecconomy. His family and others usually suffer more than he does. So why not send every drink driver to prison for 8 weeks, They’d be out in four weeks. The short sharp shock would do the trick. They do it again, They get a longer sentence. No bail. You get caught, you go to the police station, then court, then jail. A proper jail.
Most drink drivers are not hardened criminal that would laugh at jail, They are usually just your average family man that have turned to drink to help deal with underlying problems.

If you’re going to quote me, quote the whole thing or at least read what’s been written, not what you want to read.

I read what you wrote, and quoted to me, the relevant part, still I can see you have a high opinion of yourself, whereas my opinion of you is probably different.

that’s the way it’s done around here - driving drunk or speeding more than 40mph over the limit, straight to jail for a few weeks. as some participants of gumball 3000 also found out this summer

I’d rather be banned than have to pick the soap up inside!

That’s the old version. They don’t do that anymore.
What they do is bet you half ounce of amberleaf that you can’t sqeaze through the gap in the back of a chair, Then when you’re well and truly stuck in he goes.
